I was looking at this picture and wondering whether the Sovereign class ships in that scene are the original configuration or the refit:
I think the Inquiry class model that's being used for PIC season 2 is derived from the more detailed STO version. At least it seems to have a registry and an RCS thruster on the outwards facing sides of the nacelle, as well as an RCS thruster on the saucer rim. If that's the case, it's unfortunate that EM already released all four variants without these additional details.
I don't think they would portray the E-E interior consistent with the earlier movies. I'd rather they just move on to a new ship with their current production design.
Maybe they don't like the E-E design, and are ready for something new.
Personally, the E-E is my 2nd fav Enterprise ever (after the J). I love the legacy thing going on with some starship names, and I'd love for the E-E to appear in PIC with Captain Worf. But I also would be ecstatic if another show could confirm the E-F being in service after 2409.
By the way, I count the following "turn into models"-worthy vehicles in PIC s2e1:

The money they're gonna make merchandising those new ships, and they're all just low quality videogame ones shown at distance. Oof.
Well speaking for myself its a two fold reason, one is I simply have never liked the overall design of the ship. And the 2nd is for what we term a hero ship, we only had three stories with the E, thus I don't have a strong emotional attachment to the ship.
Take the D, another design I am not a fan of. But I had 178 episodes or so of episodes with that ship, so that even though I don't like the design, I have a strong emotional connection to her.
Of course I am also not in any hurry to get to a new Enterprise either. There doesn't have to be one in service at all times. After all look at the serious break in time between the loss of the C and the launch of the D.

On the Ten Forward Weekly livestream, Thomas Marrone confirmed the Akira- and Sovereign-class models were provided by STO to the PIC team. This jives with Ben Robinson's comment that only the Nova and Steamrunner were shared with PIC.
Bottom line, perhaps this means we might get the Sovereign Refit (Post Nemesis) as a model?

Wait so there's the FC/Insurrection, Nemesis refit and also a post Nemesis refit?
Yes, the Enterprise E was originally supposed to have more changes at the very end of Nemesis (thicker nacelle pylons, different paint scheme...). That version is available in Star Trek Online.

The post Nemesis look is now definitely my favourite look for the Sovereign class.

I'm glad that most of Starfleet's Sovereigns still have the First Contact look, as it means we can tell the Enterprise apart from them.
