I wonder if it'll be a kind of cuttingly harsh/borderline nasty pisstake, or perhaps, more an affectionate poke in the ribs deal?
Affectionate, I'd say. Compare Reno: 911 to Cops to see what the tone will be like. Not making fun of the show so much as using the premise to create zany characters.
I'll more than likely watch this since I really enjoy FX's original comedy series. If the humor is so very wrong in a good way, I'm there. Plus, just the fact the ship is named the Alabama has me laughing already. I can only imagine the uniforms since Thomas Lennon did rock the short shorts on Reno 911 (better legs than me, the bastard 
).
