Star Trek Soundtracks

Not even a drive you can use to rip it? Or a Blu-ray or DVD player?
Nope, I’m seeing if I can find a CD player that will plug in to my car USB. I only listen to music using my car speakers as I’m driving. My only interface with media and the internet is my phone. The computer I have at work doesn’t have a CD drive either. I don’t have a computer at home. I’m sure I can get this set in to my iTunes somehow though. I’ll figure it out. :bolian:

iTunes on a computer with a harddrive will ask you automatically to import a CD to mp3 once you insert the disk. That's how I keep those rare Star Trek scores I have handy.

That should do it. :techman:

But what if I accidentally scratch the disks or get finger prints on them? Has no one invented a tricorder like device for scanning these things without taking them out of the case yet? It could be a digital ‘pod’ like device of sorts which could use computer memory to store ‘musical data’. We could plug it in to speakers or headphones in a similar way to a ‘Diskman’ ‘Walkman’ .:guffaw:

Well, I have managed to get the compact disks on to my iPhone. It shows in my music library and I have synchronised it. But it still says that I can’t play it. I really want to listen to this now that I have it. Any ideas? I have followed the instructions in the screen shot below btw but no matter what I do, even turning my phone on and off etc… it won’t work. :wah:

**EDIT**

I don’t want to triple post in excitement, so I shall edit this one.

I turned my phone on and off (the next day) and it worked!!!! I will not listen yet through my phone speakers I am saving it for the drive home after work!

Excellent, congrats! This thread finally inspired me to relent and spend the money on the 50th Anniverary collection of "musical rarities", which should arrive any day now. I really look forward to owning at least SOME TOS music. I'll let you know how much late-Berman-era elevator style score is in the set. :)

I have been listening to this Voyager Collection and it is *perfect*. All the music from Voyager that I would ever want - this covers all of my favourite episodes you see. I might get the second Voyager Collection but I am happy with what I have from the soundtrack in this set. The music is absolutely beautiful to listen to, goosebump material. My favourite track is ‘Delta Flyer Launches for Rescue’. I like to listen to this as I am driving, pretending that I am piloting the Delta Flyer itself. I also *really like* ‘Janeway is Eluding You’.:D

Also, as I listen to the soundtrack I can visualize an abridged version of the episodes in my head complete with speech from the characters. I have seen a lot of these episodes *so* many times that this music is triggering almost complete episodic flashbacks to them for me. Some of the tracks are quite sad such as all of the pieces which play over the Raven scenes on screen which lead up to Annika, Magnus and Erin eventually being assimilated. :( In the track which I previously mentioned above which starts in the Delta flyer, the score merges in to a scene set on the Borg Diamond ship where the Queen tries to convince Seven to help her assimilate the planet below and we see all those civilians getting assimilated - I don’t pretend to assimilate planets as I listen to this piece of music though, I relate to Seven in this scene! Oh, and as far the track ‘Annika: Going to be Assimilated’…. :wah::wah::wah::wah:

I personally think that ‘Dark Frontier’ has the best soundtrack of any series in that era, possibly even today. The music is very derivative of previous music in Voyager and DS9 though, so as much credit as you can give to David Bell and Paul Baillargeon for the Dark Frontier music we still need to give credit to everything that came before this episode as the music in it is like a crescendo/high peak to this style of Berman era sonic wallpaper. Anyway, if I haven’t already said it, this Voyager Collection is absolutely beautiful to listen to - goosebump material. This is likely the best musical score *ever* in my opinion from any TV series, even beyond Star Trek, but I’m probably emotionally attached to it and the sentimental value is swaying my judgement in combination with this fact.

I was going to buy the Deep Space Nine Collection volume 1 but it is sold out, just like Voyager Volume 1 this has all the episodes that I want. I’m stuck what to get next now, I might get that Final Frontier set which has a bit of music from each series… What do you think?

The "Final Frontier" is probably a good catch-all collection. But if I were you and as enamored with specifically Voyager and its music (me, I have the emotional attachment especially for early TNG music), why not go all the way and get the Vol. 2?

The tricky thing with these releases is that they're so limited and have been around for a while. They could literally sell out at any minute. And aftermarket prices for them are crazy. So I see the dilemma.

I couldn’t decide so I bought both. I should now have enough music to last me until Strange New World’s comes out.

Do we have any news on that, btw? :D

A SNW release shouldn't take long, I imagine. The other recent shows, DSC and PIC, have had soundtrack releases just weeks (months tops) after their seasons finished airing.

Picard season 2 was released the week before the season finale. I was hoping Strange New World’s would be the same, but it is ‘late’. Could it be going to Lala Land as an exclusive instead of iTunes etc? Or will it just show up to buy online or stream through a pay as you go service one day? If this is the case, then surely it would be online by now? It’s not as if it physically needs to be produced… someone just needs to upload it.

Well, La La Land seems to be more about archival soundtracks, at least where Trek is concerned, so I doubt that. Maybe they're saving it for Star Trek anniversary day in September? No idea.

Well, my latest Lala Land collections have finally arrived.

I think that I now own pretty much all of the Voyager series soundtrack, and a good batch from TNG, DS9 and Enterprise. Including…. Sacrifice of Angels and Way of the Warrior, my favourite scores from DS9!!!!!! :adore:

I don’t know why there is an extra Voyager disk though? But at least it has the Endgame music on it! That’s an awesome score too. :D

I can’t listen to these CD’s until next week though, but I’ll still happy with my Voyager Collection Volume 1 for the time being.

I wonder what I will buy to add to my collection next month? I might go with that 50th anniversary set. I have all the music that I could ever want now though, anything else would be a… bonus. :D

I’m still waiting for Strange New World’s season 1 though. Still no news…

Just ordered the DS9 collection volume 2. I am a bit upset that I will never have volume 1 as that has all of the best tracks on unless I am ever lucky enough to find it at a reasonable price somewhere! I’ll keep scouring the internet for deals but I prefer to buy them direct from Lalaland as I know that my purchases are then ‘pure’ and fingerprint/scratch-less.

I'm curious about that "loose" disc. It says disc four on it. But the set already has four discs. And the contents and art all match the existing disc four. Did your set have all four discs inside?

I have two copies of Disk 4 for some reason. Both ‘work’ the same as far as I can tell. At least I have a spare.

So this person Horded multiple copies that they are not even listening to so that they can be sold at a high price. Ferengi! I hope that Lalaland limit sales to one per customer or don’t they care if people do this mass purchasing to sell on at a profit?

I can not justify paying that price for this edition no matter how much I want it. I might go on a swap website and see if anyone wants my beloved first edition signed I am Spock in exchange for it. :wah:

Does anybody know where The Strange New Worlds soundtrack is btw? :D
