A quick example. This is a cool poster concept, but makes no sense from a continuity standpoint. Why? Because in that era, the characters should not know what Romulans look like.

Both the people in that "poster" appear Human, the point being not that they knew what a Romulan looked like, the point was they didn't.

The poster (if anything) seem to be assuming that Romulans could look just like Humans.

Whoops! My bad. I've seen a version of it where one of them has pointed ears, and looks like a Vulcan.
