Star Trek snubbed by EW in their list of Top 25 Cult Shows

The question is how well known is RD in the states? If the article is being written from a US perspective.

I could say B7 was a cult show.

I don't know about America, but here in the UK I wouldn't exactly call Doctor Who a cult show considering the ratings it gets and the fact you can find some form of Doctor Who merchandise in just about every shop.

Then again I'm used to this sort of thing these days. It's now cool to bash Star Trek.

10 years ago it was cool to bash Trek. But Abrams made it cool to like Trek beyond the niche again, which hasn't happened since TNG (and even then that's debatable), otherwise it wouldn't have been a box office hit with plenty of mainstream coverage.

Entertainment Weekly caters to a younger readership base. It's not in their interest to include a nearly fifty-year old television series, and it's no surprise that only three series on the list debuted before 1987 (and although the dates indicate Doctor Who debuted in the 1960s, the graphics and text seem to be mainly about the contemporary series).

I'd never call Trek cult. But I'd never call The Wire, Dr. Who or a few others cult either.

Just a dumb list. Why is Farscape and NuBSG on there but not Bab 5?

So, if I understand correctly, a show with a cult following is one that is short lived and has fans during and or after.
TOS would fit this but not any of the other trek shows.
Firefly would fit because it was one for one season.
Then there was Crusade
On the List was The Prisoner (I loved that show)
I wonder about StarGate Atlantis. It was on for 4 years and a lot of fans swore it should have been on for longer, but it doesn't fit my current idea of "cult"
Of coarse there was SG-U, but no one wants to here about that.....on the other hand, I imagine there are fans and therefore a cult following????

I am in the Rodney McKay cult. Our sigil is the lemon.
If I recall correctly, McKay was deathly allergic to citrus, thus ruling out Lemons.

Perhaps this would be more appropriate?

You know how strong peoples would have sigils of dragons? To us, the lemon is our dragon. Our greatest foe who ultimately we shall conquer.

However your pic is also quite excellent, though perhaps more appropriate for the bedroom. Yes, it is that kind of cult.

Not saying it may not have been snubbed in the new list but the list the OP links is one from 3 years ago. The new one Buffy is #1 not Doctor Who

The list was for the 25 best cult shows from the last 25 years. Considering when TOS debuted, that is why it wasn't in there I'd imagine.
