Star Trek: Sigils and Unions--"The Hephaestic Oath"

Well...unlike VOY, I can promise you that there was at least more of an attempt to ground that stuff in traditional, known science from the 21st century! I'm not promising scientific correctness, just a greater veneer of plausibility. ;) If you have questions about any of it, I can point you in the direction of the concepts I used. :D

But thank you very much for reading!

^ the deficiency is mine - anything that looks vaguely scientific terrifies me and it all tends to end up in the corner of my brain reserved for trying to figure out how to NOT make my microwave beep 12:00 12:00 12:00 at me everytime I unplug it to clean it. I'm sure it seems odd to confess I haven't a science-y bone in my body; you know - as a Star Trek fan but there it is.

I also find your treatment of religion very interesting and uncharacteristically respectful for sci-fi. I appreciate that as I struggle myself with my own faith.

I always look forward to reading new installations from you!

There's nothing you can do to make the microwave not revert to 12:00 in the absence of a battery backup...just fix it after you plug it back in. ;)

But anyway...if you are curious about the science, I think I can explain it in broad strokes. I don't understand it in the mathematical sense, either, but as a "visual," and given that, I know I do come up with things that can't actually be right in real life, but they sound good. ;)

About faith...I don't see any reason for it to be considered incompatible with science.

I think that Trek Earth had a bitter struggle and that tolerance is not always extended to people of faith sometimes, though. :(
