Everyone talks about how they wanted the Enterprise B or C or at least an Excelsior or Ambassador class ship showing up to save the day, in a sort of "call in the cavalry to finish this up" sort of way. But really, wouldn't that completely defeat the purpose of Section 31 being clandestine? They're meant to be the ones who save the day in the shadows while the rest of Starfleet and indeed the Federation continue on in blissful ignorance. They're not doing that if they bring in one of Starfleet's capital ships (especially not if it's the flagship) as their backup.
The way to include one would have been to locate the heist on a Starship - S31 have to gain access and steal some macguffin covertly.

On the heels of Olatunde winning an award for best director for section 31 from the NAACP, comes an excellent re-appraisal of the movie. A "streaming hit", which is true:

"Is it me. No it's the majority of other reviewers who are wrong"

The director just won an NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding Directing in a Television Movie, Documentary or Special".

From that link, here's the list of nominees for the category:

Outstanding Directing in a Television Movie, Documentary or Special
Alanna Brown – Ruth & Boaz (Netflix)
Nicole G. Leier – Trapped in the Spotlight (Lifetime)
WINNER: Olatunde Osunsanmi – Star Trek: Section 31 (Paramount+)
Tailiah Breon – Not My Family: The Monique Smith Story (A&E)
Troy A. Scott – I’ll Never Let You Go (Lifetime)

At least this movie managed to have pretty much everyone agreeing on something. Quite a feat these days!
I do know of some unironic fans, including the CBR reviewer.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind a sequel. The cast was good and there were some interesting character setups. We could actually get something good out of it with a tighter script and (and, yes, I appreciate the irony here) maybe a different director.

Another movie probably isn't likely, but if IDW released a sequel comic I'd buy it.
