No, it's not.
No, it's not.
According to Kurtzman they basically just condensed the entire already written 10 episode series into a 2h movie.
The nano dude was pretty bad. How the fuck would an advanced lifeform have a complex organic brain that small? There is no physics to support something like that.
Or they misspoke. Or are simply mistaken. Or were misquoted.Someone is lying.
One of the biggest problems with the movie as a movie is it doesn’t really want to go with its concept. They worked on this thing for YEARS, and it’s fascinating to me whenever people take story elements and then don’t want to use them the way they’re intended to exist. And end up making them worse. There had to be a better way to utilize Georgiou and Michelle Yeoh. They needed to do a Page One Re-Write. Having TV Movies for Star Trek is a sound idea if they can't do movies on the Big Screen since mid-budget movies are a thing of the past. They needed to do take the approach that was taken with TWOK. Not the story, but a good low-budget movie.
There are people who are against the concept of both Section 31 and Georgiou. I'm obviously not one of those people. I'm for the concept, but the problem was the execution.
They had some very sloppy mistakes in there. The age of San (is that his name?), Georgiou's antagonist. 70 years and he looks exactly the same. Either they cut out the explanation or they didn't bother to write it at all. Both are bad. They had characters rambling. That could've been cut to have things that could actually move the plot along.
I don't think it was a problem to have "This ain't your nerd's fucking Star Trek!" That's fine. I get that. But you still need to have good writing and you still need to avoid sloppy mistakes.
This isn’t TNZ. So cut out the personal attacks and insults.(I know reading is something you don't do well)
Right. She doesn't have to be a cardboard cutout but they could at least have stories that don't undermine previous stories.Chapel in TOS was a cardboard cut out. No reason for the character to continue to be. It's an upgrade. And good thing for Star Trek.
Working with an Ex is tricky in real life. I've done it and it's a delicate dance. I can see them keeping it "professional" and avoiding the awkward.
Actually READ my post (I know reading is something you don't do well):
Honestly it never made sense for pike to be about kirk’s age but commanding the enterprise ten years earlier, especially since Kirk was supposed to be already very young to be captain.
I gotta say, if I wrote the Section 31 movie, I'd lie and say it was my first draft.
A series seems fairly likely at this point, and I'm sure they'll be happy to expand the character stories. Sec31 is a victim of its success a lot of people want to see more of the characters.Watched this last night. It's not very good is it! You can tell it was meant to be a series but I wonder if even then it could have worked given tonally it's all over the shop!
Yeoh was awesome of course and while it might have annoyed me I wasn't bored by it, and weirdly when I go to the end I decided I wouldn't be completely opposed to seeing this group of characters again (obviously in something way better realised!)
I think the execution was exactly what the producers and studios wanted: a Trek that non-fans can have an entry level into. I think it worked pretty well. There's just enough established for trekkies to put it in that universe but for anyone to watch.yeah, the concept of made for streaming movies is good, and i hope to see more.
Problem was the execution
It's taken me awhile to come to this conclusion, but I think I agree with you. Straight-to-steaming films might not be glamorous, but I think they can allow writers to explore single concepts set in the Star Trek universe without being tied into an 8 to 10 episode television season. I'm of the opinion that the Discovery anthology idea that reportedly was scrapped would've been a good one, and a sort of "Long Short Treks" could be a really interesting paradigm.yeah, the concept of made for streaming movies is good, and i hope to see more.
Problem was the execution
Unfortunately, its writing quality was on par with a lot of other straight-to-streaming dreck…yeah, the concept of made for streaming movies is good, and i hope to see more.

Olatunde Osunsanmi said in an interview that, in its original iteration, the Section 31 show had six episodes.
Someone is lying.

BTW, the Section 31 show/movie went through seven iterations.
First there would to be actual stories to undermine. She has maybe one and a quarter stories where her presence means something.Right. She doesn't have to be a cardboard cutout but they could at least have stories that don't undermine previous stories.
A series seems fairly likely at this point, and I'm sure they'll be happy to expand the character stories. Sec31 is a victim of its success a lot of people want to see more of the characters.
