Spoilers Star Trek Resurgence and Q-Zone

But the differences between the Ocampa and Vulcans are too big for them to belong to the vulcanoid species.

I didn't propose that they were the same species, just related species descended from a common ancestor such as Sargon's people. Half a million years is enough time for substantial evolutionary divergence to occur. Even over a shorter timespan, an advanced civilization colonizing multiple planets might employ genetic engineering to adapt different populations to different environments, as the Illyrians have been established to do in Strange New Worlds. That could account for, say, engineering one colony population to have copper-based blood to be compatible with the biochemistry of the planet it settled. (Or engineering a naturally copper-based species to have iron-based blood, but since copper-based is less common, the former premise seems more likely.)

That's possible, although I wasn't talking about the vulcan species (singular) but about the plurality of vulcanoid species, we have seen like the Mintaka for another example. All the species for which we have no information about how exactly they are related to the Eridanians, beside some fan theories.

The amount of differences that could have been caused by evolving in another eco system in combination with the fact that there are some species that seem to be identical to Humans and in at least one case to the Eridanians, without having been directly related as far as we know, seems to hint at the possibility of some genetical engineering probably long after the primordial seeding was done.

To come back to the original issue about the Tkon, I think because Resurgence implies at least some of them having used bioforming enough of times throughout their history for Portal to be familiar to the process, I also think it's possible that some of the species we know are descendants of people or species who were bioformed by them.

I really enjoyed Star Trek: Resurgence but I also feel like the game kind of overwhelmed the subtler character beats that we depend on. I enjoyed the comic but since that's a prequel, we'll probably never see any more of Jara Rydek or the rest of the crew introduced in them. Which is a shame because I was really impressed with them all.

I'd love a novel with these guys but I doubt there's the demand.

Maybe another prequel. A sequel (in any format) would be challenging, considering the number and, more importantly, variety of characters who can end up dead or otherwise unavailable by the end of the game.

True but there's also a lot of characters who end up in Rome no matter which way they end up there too.
