Star Trek Renegade FanFic

I've been wondering how to phrase this once I began the thread, but to put it simply is that this Fan Fiction/Story I'll be placing here takes place in a parallel universe to Star Trek Discovery with varying events, some which happened in Discovery, others completely fictional. Some characters from Discovery will also be making an appearance in this, they include but are not limited to. Saru, Gabriel Lorca, Michael Burnham, Sarek, and Philippa Georgiou.

The summary of this is as follows.
Fifty years before the Original series Captain Joshua G Rogan of an unnamed Federation star ship is sent to study a super nova of a near by star to Earth. Things go south and the ship is destroyed, along with its crew. Only one person is known to have survived this, Sarek. Years later we come to the events at the Binary Stars with the crew of the USS Shenzhou. Much remains the same as in Discovery, though what changes is the daughter of Captain Rogan who is half Klingon invades the Shenzhou. This story will explore Michael Burnham and Mekala Rogan's external and internal fight.

Still in lineal format as in Discovery, not story to story like the past series, this will follow a lot of the events in Discovery, but like I mentioned, it's in a Parallel Universe to Discovery. The events will play out differently from almost the beginning of this fan fiction to it's conclusion. I've had many long days at work thinking of the story I will tell here. Being an amateur writer, that's what I do with my time.

First post will be by the end of this week, look forward to it. Oh, and note, Renegade isn't the title of any ship that will appear in the fan fiction.

Looking forward to it, although I admit that my knowledge of what's happened in Discovery is limited to a few small excerpts posted on YouTube and bits gleaned here and there. As I don't have CBS All Access, I'm going to have to wait until the Blu-ray comes out.

Last hour of work and came up with a great beginning to this fan fiction, it takes place well before the events at the beginning of Discovery, but I will work my way back to that, for now here it is...it's late so forgive me if there are spelling errors and what now, if I do find some in the morning I will edit and repost the revised post along with the next post in the same post. Lots of posts.

Two things to note real quick. Personalty wise, how I portray these characters may vary quite differently from Discovery. Also I've renamed Michael, to Miku. She has the same background as Michael but she acts more Vulcan than human.

Post 1: Miku Burnham's POV
Letting out a breath, the air visible in front of me from the frigid temperature of this planet. Watching the air fade I continue my work, going from one body to the next within the interior of the long since crashed USS Firefly, a small research ship which crashed here many decades ago. My mission at present is to retrieve the crew’s manifest while also retrieving their Star Fleet pins and replacing them with the replicated ones Saru gave me.

“We must leave the ship intact so the local inhabitants don’t suspect anything.” His words drift though my mind.

“This is a shire for them, these dead are their Gods how ever illogical that may be, that’s how these primitive beings see this.”

Shining my flashlight over the other bodies scattered about and frozen in time I turn back to the control panel, hoping that it would be one of the few working still. Captain Phillippa Georgiou went straight to the engines room to return power which she had succeeded in, but still many of the circuitry within the Firefly is beyond repair. Only a few panels light up, and only a few more were able to accept the older chip which Sarek lent us to retrieve what we could here. Him being the only known survivor, save for Captain Joshua Rogan.

A blip sounds as I pause what I am doing, my flashlight on the control panel I am near, the blip meaning that the download has finished for the crew manifest. Taking the small device from the panel and finishing the last few bodies in this corridor I may my way toward the bridge where our Captain will meet me.

The bitterness of this air sends a shiver through my body, but not letting myself shiver find myself behind the Captain as she’s wondering around the bridge. “Sarek was right, the Firefly did manage to jump quite a few light years from that star.”

The Captain of Asian decent pulls away her downy hood of her jacket and gazes my way, “and did you complete your part of the mission?” Her hair laying flat, yet a few strands sticking to her face from her sweat and the cold, I nod.

“Yes Captain, his information was quiet accurate.”

She blinks before turning back to look around the bridge, the large monitor up front completely shattered with a snowdrift covering the ground before it, a few bodies are in here but I made sure they were the first. “You know Miku, the inhabitants of this world believe these bodies are Gods. It’s awing to think that humans like us were just as...”

“Confused,” I try interpreting what the Captain is thinking but she shakes her head.

“No, not confused, maybe more imaginative. Our species have grown dull, we’ve lost that luster of imagination since we’ve become a space faring race.”

“I fail to see your point, what logic is there in being imaginative?”

“Sarek raised you a bit too much like a Vulcan.” She sighs, moving on, and holding a box before her, “We have the black box, we can go now, lets get Saru and get out of here.

“Agreed,” I answer her, following as we go the way we entered the ship, though the destroyed hanger bay a few stories below the bridge.

Though she stops as I almost walk into her after ducking out of the damaged hanger door, before us the quadrupeds inhabitants of this world, their faces much like dogs of Earth, yet they have arms half way up their necks, like centaurs. These small kid size beings are known as species 283 or Bogs. They are pre-warp capable.

We aren’t suppose to make any contact with them, yet Saru, his own species having been in contact with them for centuries is familiar to them. He’s in their village. The Captain and I are in a remote shrine that’s we were told is hardly ever visited expect for particular solar events which isn’t suppose to happen for a few more weeks on this planet.

“Miku, seems we’ve been caught. Any suggestions?” Her voice as vibrate as usual, she doesn’t seem to mind getting into trouble here and there and although I don’t always agree with her ways, I do find a bit of excitement in these kinds of situations, my humanity rearing it’s ugly head which I tried to subdue so long ago.

“Run,” I answer, and with both bolt in different directions in the snowy wilderness of this planet. “We’ll meet up later Captain,” I yell back hoping she heard me.

The changes made to my first post are few so I won't be reposting that. Though to clear a few things up, I notice I said before the events of Discovery, no, these are after the opening event of Discovery, more in the middle. Then I'll be going to the beginning and working my way back.

The other thing is since I introduce Saru in this next post, a slight change with him is their species don't sense the coming of death, rather they are very perspective to fear, they can sense fear.

Here is Post 2: Miku Burnham's POV
They are faster than they look, only glancing over my shoulder I see five of them on me, the rest, seem to have followed the Captain. Howling as they pursue me through the thicket the snow engulfs my legs, with each press forward another inch or so deeper, another strain to move, and as I come upon what looks like a ridge I am left with one option to loose my pursues who are far more adapted to run in this environment.

Only a peek over the ridge to see if it’s somewhat safe, I see plenty of snow below, but is it deep enough to cushion my fall…No time to consider the alternative as I take a leap of fate. Gritting my teeth as I avoid a scream from the height I land as the snow swallows me below, it’s deep, and the fall, maybe twenty stories, but I lived, and just down from where I landed I see the village which Saru is suppose to be in communications with the Bog.

Looking where I jumped from, the five that were on my tail merely look over the edge, seeing if there are any signs of life from me, as I remain motionless, my eyes remain open and unmoving, they have a hawk like sight but as the snow is covering most of my body, they shouldn’t be able to tell if I am even breathing.

A howl leaves the lead Bog as it signals for the others to turn back, they mind inhabit this planet and be great with traps for there hunt, but crazy seems to be the furthest thing from them, they are primitive but they haven't reached a stage in which they chance anything.

Remaining still, I wait, one minute bleeds into two, than three. My suit maybe well insulated but even in these temperatures and covered in the snow, it gets too unbearable. I’m sure they are gone. Freeing myself I am off at a run again, towards the village.

“Number One...Miku…” The communicator sounds in my breast pocket. Pulling it out and answering the Captain, her voice is soft, “I have made it to the beacons, I am having Mekala energize me, once you get Saru, head there, we’ll get you two out of there.”

“Rodger.” I answer. Placing the communicator back in it’s pocket.

The run isn’t far as I reach the small village of probably only fifty. With my back against a tree, and peering around it, the village looks deserted, only one soul who is going from home to home, looking for the inhabitants. Saru who perks up and stares at the tree I am hiding behind.

As limber as Saru is, he still crunches the snow beneath him, approaching me with a smile, “You’ve never been good at hiding your fear, why have you come to the village...does it have anything to do with the Bog’s fleeing?”

Revealing myself, I answer, “that would be the logical conclusion.”

A Kelpien, the first of his species to ever become a star fleet officer. They are good with sensing fear, as they are fearful creatures themselves.

He rolls his eyes, “The ship was clear, their event isn’t for another few months.”

“What about other tribes,” I rebuke, “The clothing of the Bog that greeted us at the ship were different then those here.”

He remains silent as I start walking towards the pre-planted beacons and he dashes past me, “we have to hurry, I may have mistaken your fear for the fear of the Bog that are still amidst us.”

Following in pace with him, he slows as he has a far longer gate than I, then any human. Kelpiens are very fast as to run from those hunting them on their home planet. “What fear?” I ask, do the Bog fear us?”

“Yes,” he says hardly out of breath, “But also the storm, we are well past the predicted time that it would come, Mekala may have miscalculated."

“Lets not blame her, the planets surface is unforgiving, and her calculations have been accurate so far.”

“Yet this isn’t one of those times...” He responds, of all of us, Saru still doesn’t trust Mekala, being half Klingon, their species are very aggressive. It stands to reason that Saru, who fears all would be wary of her...we all are but she has proven herself to be a friend, most of the time that is…

“We reach the beacons and we are home free, lets hurry.”

Well I decide to go Super meta last night with my fan fiction which will connect this story beyond Discovery and The Original Series but even The Next Generation. Should be fun and this next posts sets all that up. But I do need to start from the beginning of Discovery now as to make sure the story is complete to it's entirety.

I've tried my best to use terminology from Star Trek and with the help of the Wiki I think I've been able to do that, but I'm not a massive fan like some on this site, I enjoy Star Trek and it's stories, but I don't know ever detail, hence why I used the Wiki a lot, and will continue to do so.

Enjoy the paradox to come.

Post 3: Phillippa Georgiou's POV
Nothingness as the Transporter room appears around me. In mid fight with one of the Bog’s, it had jumped me as Mekala began energizing me. Knocking it off me, Mekala is quick to return the Bog back to the surface and though a smile, chuckles, “must of been a hell of a fight.”

Mekala is a Klingon-Human hybrid, her mother unknown, but father, Captain Joshua Rogan of the USS Firefly. As to how that particular event happened, they were in the logs that Mekala gave me that first day. Looking more Klingon than Human, her ridges in a crisscross pattern and paler than most Klingon's we’ve been antiquated to.

“It was, I mumble as I grab a spine from one of the Bog’s blow guns out of the side of my neck, “first time I’ve been shot with a blow gun...what’s the status on Miku and Saru?”

“Still down there, they haven’t reported in and that storm is coming quick. Though you may want to take the call in your ready room.”

“Who?”

“Vice Admiral Cornwell, XJ dropped by and told me to relay that message to you...that was an hour ago.”

“You didn’t tell me sooner?” I question her, “Communication silence.” I answer my own question. “Keep me posted.” Remaining calm I leave the room, heading for sick bay first, a headache deadening my composition, I swear that spine must have been laced with something, but the call remains my number one priority.

The visit is quick as I leave, then to the turbo lifts, bridge, and ending in my ready room. Contacting the Vice Admiral, she looks paler than a ghost, and as she speaks, so to do I, this is impossible…

“How could that have happened?” I ask her, trying to stay calm but it’s hard.

“An older generation, that’s all I can say, Star Fleet forty years ago were far more wary. They met the Klingon’s once and got it in themselves to...well we now have an extinction on our hands...on Star Fleets hands.” Her voice is exhausted, she didn’t even badger me about being an hour later. What good would an hour even do, it already happened.

“Needless to say, your mission to get the black box was successful?”

Nodding at the view screen she gives a weak smile, “and Sarek hypothesis, where you able to confirm it?”

Again I nod, “I had a little time before energizing that I was able to determine if the Firefly which went down there was indeed ours. Ours was destroyed as the records show when it was caught in the super nova, this one is the ISS Firefly, same crew, but the captain, not Rogan like ours, but a Gabriel Lorca.”

“This goes against the Temproal Prime Directive but the Shenzhou and her crew will be heading to a near by star about to go super nova, same class and the one from forty years ago that caught the Firefly. Go to this, mirrored universe, investigate it and try to prevent what has happened. If that means preventing Rogan from communicating with them over there as he had, so be it.”

“I hate to go against your orders Katrian, but we have no way of accurately predicting our trajectory if we are even able to succeed.”

“That is why we are sending every minute detail we have on the Firefly your way, along with Details from Sarek’s voyage home after the event. We are hoping your science team is able to surmise something from that. We have done all we could here, but the main goal is to prevent Kronos from being destroyed. This is now Star Fleets top priority, we want to end this war, but not like this. The Shenzhou is are hope for the time being.”

The screen blinks off after she finishes, there is no right way to go about this, to drastically change the timeline we’re in such as we are going to try doing. We could all be killed. I’m left speechless as I take in a long breath, than releasing while pondering what all could happen and probably will happen. Murphy's sense of humor is belittling.

A humming noise soon comes though the blank screen when Mekala appears, though the visuals are highly distorted, and the audio is not much better. Though what she saying makes me laugh as the possibilities are just too surmountable for any of this.

“Captain Georgiou...what ever you do, you must destroy Discovery, that’s the only way to end this. This loop which it created will never end unless that is gone.”

It’s short and brief, just like Mekala to do so, but this much be a version of from the future as this is a secure channel for only the top brass within Star Fleet and it’s Captains. But this means we’re able to succeeded to an extent. “Very well,” I answer no one.
