Star Trek References in the general culture

Is it wrong that I think those sports cars above evoke Star Wars, but minivans of the past twenty years evoke Star Trek shuttles?

I'm... kind of saddened... by that realization.

Not me.

In PITTMED, the alumni magazine of the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, Spring 1010, "The Pixelated Stethoscope: At Intel Labs Pittsburgh, Computer Can See What Docs Can't". The first two paragraphs

Among the many talents of Leonard H. "Bones" McCoy, Star Trek's inimitable, sharp-tongued physician were his capabilities with what looks like a medical ray gun. Pointing a saltshaker-like sensor at a patient, McCoy could Detect Brain waves, sense blood abnormalities, and identify pathogens like "Saurian virus."

It remains a far-fetched idea, this business of point-and-shoot diagnostics, but it turns out the technology needed for a McCoy-worthy medical sensor (or "medical tricorder," in Trekkie-speak) might arrive considerably sooner that the 23rd century if a group of Pittsburgh scientists has its way.

Buffy season 7 episode "Dirty Girls", Andrew is bringing the potential Slayers up to speed on the just arrived Faith. While describing her exploits, we get clips of Faith's most notorious moments, including her fighting a very familiar looking...Vulcan.

One of the potentials had to point out that Faith had killed a volcanologist.
Well I don't know if it's general culture according to this thread or not, but speaking of Buffy TVS - I am watching season 5 and I just saw a couple of episodes early on in the season with Trek references a few days ago.

Episode 3 "The Replacement" has a plot that it similar to TOS "The Enemy Within", only while Kirk got split into his dangerous violent part and his moral but wussy part, Xander gets split into a cool, confident Xander that has his strongest qualities and a lame Xander that has his weakest qualities. In the end, when they are about to put the 2 Xanders back together, one of them says that if it doesn't work, "Kill us both, Spock!"
Earlier in the episode, Cool!Xander talks to a real estate agent about buying a new apartment and finally moving from his parents' basement, and says:
"There comes a point when you either have to move on or just buy yourself a Klingon costume and go with it."

In another episode (I think it might be the very next one) Buffy says "I'm like Santa Claus, Fairy Godmother and Q rolled into one." When Giles and Xander give her a puzzled look, she quickly adds: "Q from Bond, not Star Trek!"

I wonder who chose the font for this?

I'm not sure I'd count this. Chances are whoever came up with the design just happened to come across the font while deciding and designing the detailing for the van.

In the episode of Futurama I just saw, Bender is arrested and sent to Will Rikers Island.

I remember there were several mentions of Star Trek on Seinfeld. George, Jerry and Kramer were all Trekkies apparently.

There was also a few very nice nods to the famous "Khaaaan!" moment.
