Nope.

I’m not sure that it was called that in canon before discovery, but English has been referred as “federation standard” for decades in related literature.

Yes. I was referring to canon (hence using the term "introduced" rather than "created" and furthermore "introduced in Discovery" without any comment on its status in earlier Star Trek... although Discovery is the first time we ever heard it onscreen).

I was very upset at the canonization of "Federation Standard" at the time, but I acknowledged its existence as a non-canon reference in February 2019.

indeed. Well, we know that standard is English because Khan recognises it as English.

That is, unless the universal translator was operating without him knowing.

That would be an interesting if not completely original twist. A Federation Starfleet officer turned into something almost totally alien and now in pursuit of a completely new and less honorable destiny.

Well, that was rather excellent. Can’t wait for more Janeway and that gorgeous starship. The music was great. Plot was ok, with some great ideas. Can’t wait to find out more. The Platinum age of Star Trek! :)

I liked BEY despite its loopholes and liked the first episode of Prodigy. I'm game if that's the route they take.

Face it, Trek is 55 years old and about to hit 57 in age if we count "The Cage(TOS)." Original ideas in the franchise are few and far between nowadays.

And let's face it, BEY isn't exactly the most popular nor beloved Trek storyline even for diehard fans who liked the film.

That was *FUN*! I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, so I was blown away by the obvious love put into the show. The visuals are *gorgeous*, the characters engaging, and there are lots of interesting questions (as this being page 19 of the thread demonstrates). I'm looking forward to seeing where we're going!

I like the show already, but I admit I feel just a tad creeped out that I'm 51 years old and just spent an hour watching a show on fucking NICKELODEON....
That will pass.

I did t even know it aired on Nickelodeon. I watched it on Paramount service.

‪‪I don’t think it has aired on Nickelodeon, in the U.S. at least, just streamed under the Nickelodeon banner on Paramount+. According to my cable listings, and every official source/report online, it won’t air on Nickelodeon in the U.S. until the first season has completed streaming/is available on Paramount+.
