Bullet Points:
  • I don't think I have a favorite character yet, but I like all of them.
  • They have an interesting villain.
  • I like that they have a Medusan. That was a deep cut.
  • I thought it was a little too easy for them to find the ship, but I figure that was Zero guiding Dal.
  • I think it's going to a take a while for Gwyn to warm up. Probably a few episodes, then she'll find out what her father was really up to.
  • I like the visuals a lot. It's like Discovery in animated form.
  • Those commercials, though. That'll take some getting used to. I feel like I know more about kids' stuff now than at any other point after 1990.
I don't know what a 10 looks like for a show like this, and the best episode of the season probably hasn't happened yet, but -- like I said upthread -- it kept me wondering about what was going to happen next and had me in suspense during a few points. And I didn't cringe once.

So I'm going to give this a 9.

I'll be following it from week-to-week. Unlike Lower Decks, I won't be giving it the "I'll just binge it all in one day at the end of the season!" treatment.

Dull. A bunch of escape/chase set piece tropes even medium-aged kids have seen be fore. The misfits all escaped, Gen Grievous and the Emperor are temporarily stymied.

There is nothing new under the sun apparently.

I thought is was great. If this had existed in the 90s, I would have watched it as religiously as I watched ReBoot and Space Cases. The animation was much higher quality than even the previews made out. Great colorful and detailed landscapes that hark back to the matte paintings of TOS. (Mostly) Smooth animation. Dal reminds me of the 90s Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons, but I didn't find him quite as annoying as he could have been. Still a lot of unanswered questions. Hopefully we'll get some answers.

Its been a while since I have seen that show the whole way through, but I do not remember many slow paced episodes, I think Strange New Worlds would be more likely to have a Measure of a Man episode than this show.
Maybe but the point is that there is potential. Kids programming is not monolithic nor do kids automatically have to have all fast.

Call me strange but I find as much value in kid's shows as adult programming. I'll not sell it short.

I gave this one a 7. I think it was a good start but didn't grab me until the end with Janeway. I have the feeling I'll like the rest of the episodes better now that the show is set up.

I think SNW wants to be the TOS of the 2020s. So I'm not seeing "The Measure of a Man". "Court Martial" maybe, sticking with the courtroom theme we've got going here. ;)

They better rescue that little Caitian kitten girl in the next episode. I appreciate how fluent young Gwyn is in Caitian and how she tried to protect her. Surely she will want to save her from the evil Diviner.

All in all, I like the show, though I am definitely not within the age group they’re seeking. It is beautiful visually and the characters are interesting. It has appeal to Trekkies like me who will geek out over the references to Medusans and Janeway. I have some doubts, though, that it will appeal to kids. The first episode is long and involved and a little too slow paced.

Kind of boring story wise but the animation is fantastic. I think I would’ve liked it more as two separate episodes. Too much running around in both halves of the episodes for me. Hopefully next week’s engages me more.

I liked it very much. Nice action and the characters are fun though clearly geared to children but not in a Blues Clues kind of way. No reason adults who are in touch with their inner child can't like it. Also my prediction is the show is set in the Future. Maybe the Federation has already fallen. Also why the Kazon was around. Travel between Quadrants is not a big deal anymore with space travelling races.
