Re: Nerek knowing where they were...they must be able to track synths within a certain range. How else did they even know two synths had appeared on their radar?? And where to find them over and over?
I kinda wonder if at some point he placed a tracker on Soji.
They were together intimately at least a few times.
And while she was sleeping he could have done something nefarious.

Because I realized that the happiest moment in the series was that Apollo didn't shoot a prisoner. There was no enjoyable aspect to me about the show, the characters were not enjoyable and I didn't feel a need to progress forward. It felt like misery for the sake of mistery.

Like I said, I don't usually ascribe depression to shows but even watching SF Debris do a review of it put me in a bad mood for no good reason. It's just not something that appeals to me.

Sorta related...I can't even watch the usual suspects on YT talk about Picard anymore...or anything now. I gave it a little shot and now they've devolved into sneering over rumors even if said rumor isnt the most implausible thing or a particularly bad thing. Like RIos being a hologram which we've already discussed.

"Cannnnn youuuu believe it???? Cmonnnn!!! Rios turns out to be a hologrammmmm Gawwwwd."

You can make anything sound stupid if you sneer enough at it.

"Godfather??? More like Gawdawful. And why would Michael come back to Kayyyy? CMONNNN"

As i mentioned on Twitter....here and Lore Reloaded are the only online people i see that actually fairly judge the series. I guess the AV guy also, but he's kind of weird sometimes.

Johnathan DelArco himself called the show dystopian. And most dystopians have a glimmer of hope in the midst of the hell or at the end of the tunnel. So no, overall tone is very dystopian.
I think he was looking at it from the viewpoint of an Ex-Drone though.
For the XB's the future is very bleak and their past ain't something to brag about either.

Nobody's mentioned how Clancy told Picard to STFU--am I the only one who loved that?

Raffi said that she was surveilling the Cube, indicating that she could see what the xBs were drawing...when/how did this happen?

It seems like Picard's going out of his way to be extra-sensitive to Soji since last week.

I liked when Clancy told him that too, but isn't it kind of an issue that we feel that way about Picard? He is the hero of the show, in theory.

Raffi saw the drawings when she was trying to hack the Artifact and escape it.

It's great that he treats Soji better, could he start doing better by Raffi, please?

Who am I to argue with Hugh??

By the way earlier this week i pointed out that Jon called Jeri "His Borg Queen" on Twitter before the ep aired. I was most amused that NO ONE in the thread said anything along the lines of "Whoaaaa.....spoilers"

*Also...as ive said before. this Utopia is through the eyes of the Command Crew of the USS USO Tour-D/E. I'm serious. Look at Insurrection!! What are they doing?? Flying the Flag and raising morale! Data and Geordi probably even do Who's On First for troops before they're shipped out to die at the hands of the JemHadar.

Unlike the original, I don't believe that NuBSG was ever meant to be upbeat.
That's true and it has to be taken as such.

But, it was depressing and I couldn't get through.

And Alec Guiness hated Star Wars. I guess I'll hate it too.

Just how much autonomy do the Zhat Vash have? Because I highly doubt the Romulan Praetor, Senate, or even the Tal Shiar will willingly fund the Zhat Vash to doom their own homeworld over a fairytale.

The Zhat Vash are like the Romulans version of Section 31, they don't have any authority or control over it.

I think more than a few of us had already figured out that Seven would be connecting herself to the cube at some point and had mentioned it a few times.
;)

Thirty-two 10 votes?

People either grade on a curve or are just far too generous. This was not a great episode.

As I said in a previous thread, I think this show will benefit hugely from binge-watching. It's serialized to a fault. Weekly episodic series should be somewhat...episodic. Nothing wrong with PIC being serialized, but it should have been released all at once (as it was clearly meant to be viewed).

And I don't think releasing it weekly was some kind of brave creative choice. It'$ about $omething el$e.

You're not alone, I didn't even make it past the first season before I moved on.

We've essentially known that from the start.
My viewing of it takes that into consideration and I've watched each new episode after doing at least a second viewing of the previous one.
I call it adapting to modern TV watching.
:techman:

Reminds me more of the Illuminati.

Or...art is subjective and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Hmmm.
Rule number (undetermined as yet) of serial drama for TV or streaming video: production team bosses and actors lie to preserve plot points...

I had to drink my way through every episode of season 4. It was brutally hard to watch. I would watch it again because it was also very good. But every week they were shooting Old Yeller again.

I asked Number One to reenact this episode. He spun in a circle chasing his tail for 53 minutes.

That android from the preview turns into...
Data?!
It looks like the 'memory flash included both Ariam (from ST: D) and Data in there.

For me - I honestly gave it a 5.

I really disliked that Soji turned into a Deus Ex Machina during the episode. And to think Maddox just created a world of synths (or went there and revived them); that Soji (although somehow created with a positronic neuron from Data also somehow gained the personality and mannerisms of a Synth she never met, etc.

Also, just the fact that a Half-Vulcan/Half-Romulan mole could exist in Star Fleet for 30+ years, giving these typr of "Black Flag" orders; and no one else in the chain of command (including the current CINC); and Dr. Jurati's sudden ability to just ignore Oh's psychic block because she met Soji...:wtf:

And IDK - but as much as I HATE the Utopian aspect ob TNG; Rios was just left to fend for himself after witnessing his Captain put a phaser to himself? WTF is up with Star Fleet medical? " Hey, we have a diagnosis for you...and you're out of Starfleet? What? You want/need psychiatric help? Well, maybe if you were in Star Fleet..." <--- That's how it seemed top come across.
(Well, at least Chabon didn't make Rios a synth as well - which is where I thought they were going to take this given Rios' initial reaction to Soji.)

And I feel sorry for Jeri Ryan - she did a marvelous job with some really bad material (although I did like her quandary of whether she should re assimilate the Borg in stasis or not. And sorry, but if she was in control of then cube; she could block/stop the alcove ejection sequence? I guess the Romulans had better control of the entire Cube than was intimated.

And its really a shame that after all the build up - the character of Elnor is relegated to being a token action figure, with no real development given for the actor to play beyond his backstory. He seems to just be there because Chabon what an occasional action sequence between all the various convoluted info dumps.

Also, it seems a lot of the growth and realization Picard came to about himself and his past will be buried into himself again, because hey, Picard was "right™" and we got another smug Picard speech (after the CINC at least got one: "Shit the fuck up..." before she admitted Picard was "right™" - and gave himself a resounding self validating table pound. HUBRIS RESTORED - (Which I'm sure made many a TNG fan ecstatic. I'm just not that much of a TNG/Picard fan myself.)

And I'm sorry but WHY again, did the EMH not at least appear to Rios sometime EARLIER and inform him of the actions Dr. Jurati took to kill Maddox (which she evidently never did try to erase/remove from the EMH's 'memory'. It only divulged what it knew AS SHE CONFESSED...:guffaw:

Anyone want to bet that at some point in these last two episodes; we'll also see a fully restored and functional Data at some point - but for 'reasons'; Data will have to remain on the planet or wherever this new fountain of Synth life/culture ends up so that the "Synth Horror™" that the Zhat Vash are afraid on never comes to pass..?

Yeah, a 5 is a gift to this episode, the more I think and write about it; but that rating stands for me. :brickwall:

Because nobody asked it for a report.
Why is it so hard to believe that an EH doesn't automatically give reports when they essentially have been put on idle till the next emergency?

And if it did have that capability, surly Agnes would have disable it as well.

Raffi was too drunk to care and Rios was too caught up in other things.
Everyone else left the ship.

When they all finally came back together, Raffi had pretty much gone 'cold turkey' and had begun to put it all together ... by actually asking the EH's en masse.
