Here's a deep cut, 20 Quatloos to anyone who gets it,

Picard: Ok, let's go!! We can all escape!
Elnor: No no you go, I'll stay behind,
Picard et al: Ohhhh a martyr, stupid martyrs, cmon, GAWD I hate martyrs!
It's not quite a perfect match, but...Hardware Wars?

I believe the only time that Data did something vaguely similar was when in First Contact he tossed around a couple of Borgs before being captured.
Wait, thare was that time in DataLore where Data and Lore pushed gently each other and threw some plastic barrels each other...

I have to say that fights choreography in TNG leaves something to be desired...

Ok at this point we're at an impasse. I remember people questioning us and management about my coworker's heart attack and death and then checking everything and clearing out our entire aisle (!) for inspection. That's far more than Rios is shown to have done. So my viewpoint is based on reality and real experiences. Maybe it's just best we moved on to another topic as this debate isn't getting anywhere
Different circumstances = different outcome. Maddox was brought on board in extremely poor shape, his injuries were known to be severe and life-threatening. He was alone with a trained doctor when he died. If that trained doctor says, "I did my best, but the injuries were just too severe," why would anyone doubt her word? This situation isn't about an equipment failure that would require an investigation, because Agnes didn't say the equipment failed, she said that Maddox's injuries got the better of him despite her treatment. The EMH has not been needed since, so has not activated to tell what he knows, and there is no reason for anyone to summon him just to verify Agnes's version of events, because they have no reason that they know of (yet) not to trust her.

Except that's just it. The EMH activates immediately upon physical distress. That it didn't would raise eyebrows, same as an AED not working properly or giving auditory directions (place patch here etc.)

And in the aftermath of my coworker's death we did other things like double check the first aid kit etc. was still well supplied. Rios isn't shown to have done a fraction of the things people do in real life deaths.

The EMH did activate. The logs would show that. Agnes was already there and that's all she has to say, that she was already doing everything she could, it couldn't help so she deactivated it to stop it getting in her way in the crisis. No one has any reason to doubt her version of events.

Why do you think that EMH didn't activate? You have just invented this scenario. As far we know everyne thinks that the equipment worked just fine, Maddox just died despite of that.

I think in their minds this would be more like a person coming into the ER after a major accident and dying, rather than someone just suddenly dropping over dead.

Yeah, there has been a massive improvement in fight scenes with Discovery and Picard, compared to pretty much all of the old series.

This would be like a doctor turning off an AED right next to her because she's already trained in CPR herself. That makes absolutely no sense. EMH's don't get in the way, they help.

Any doctor would face serious questions if an AED was right next to them on why it shows no signs of being used during someone's heart attack.

Yep! Sometimes I would have preferred that in the old series they had replaced the fights with a sign saying: "Please, now imagine a well done and exciting fight, so that we are not forced to embarrass ourselves."

Cool to see Stargate like technology in the Borg cube that Picard and Soji used. What's with the whole creepy incestuous hints from the Romulan brother and sister though?

Kirk vs. the Gorn!!!:guffaw:
You know, that, and other TOS' fights, had a certain charm nonetheless. The TNG's ones were just bland and unimaginative.

No no, they were creepy AND kinky incestuous hints. You didn't pay attention ;)

I'm worried it might head into Game of Thrones type not safe for kids territory (although Icheb's scene already went there in regards to violence) once Rizzo gets her hands on Elnor.

And why do you think that the logs wouldn't show that EMH was active and helping if someone checked? (Which they even might not.) You're letting your meta knowledge of Jurati being the killer affect your judgement. The characters are behaving perfectly logically. Do you think that every time Bones lost a patient Kirk and Spock double checked everything to make sure that he hadn't in fact intentionally murdered the patient?

Seems like the portal technology aboard the Artifact is a miniaturization of a sort of the transwarp conduit technology that existed until at least Voyager's return to the Alpha Quadrant in 2378. At some point the Borg found a way to apply transwarp technology of some kind to drone-sized gateways that can be installed aboard cubes.

...;)

You know it strikes me that the Gorn should be about the same size and shape as a velociraptor, in that case, he would have cut Kirk to pieces before the latter could lift a finger.
