Perhaps don't watch it?

It was that one episode. The rest of it has been pretty good, and I just rated last night's episode pretty highly. I'm hoping episode 5 was the outlier and not the norm for this series. So far that seems to be the case.

Sorry, if a show makes me depressed I don't watch it. That's a hard line for me . But, that's me and if I misread I apologize .

I probably could have clarified that better. Picard as a series has been decent to good. I just wasn't a fan of episode 5, and didn't even watch it again like I've done with the other episodes so far. I'm just hoping that's not the norm going forward, or else i probably won't watch. I'm liking Picard better than Discovery though, for what it's worth.

I've been detecting sparks between them for a while now. Like last episode after she KO'ed the Rock 'em Sock 'em Robot, she playfully punched him..

I'd forgotten that, but, yeah, they've been setting this up for awhile now. Didn't surprise me at all when they went there.

As a matter of practicality, that wouldn't apply to previous episodes in an episode discussion thread. We have to assume that if people have watched 6, they've watched 5 as well.
Sure, but that's besides the issue under discussion.

WarpFactorZ was complaining that posts with "... your personal personal theories aren't spoilers. They're speculation.", and he wanted people posting their speculations to drop the 'spoilers tag'.

My point is that it's almost impossible to speculate without revealing details of the *most* recent episodes, therefore almost all speculation will by definition contain spoilers. And that's regardless of whether they've watched the episode-before-the-most-recent-one or not.

Well, that was awful good, but not perfect.

Loved.

The Hugh/Picard reunion and Picard dealing with being on a Cube again.

Liked.

Raffi coming through. Elnor's perceptiveness. The culmination of the Soji/Narek plot. The Rios/Jurati scene.

Didn't bother me at all.

Jurati hitting on Rios. Raffi publicly partying. The former makes sense in two ways (as a grieving/coping mechanism or as a hardcore spy/operative Maddux redux). And they have to show her hitting the bottle/pipe, that or have someone do expo on it. Perfectly natural given the circumstaces. She smokes/drinks in front of JLP in episode 2.

Negatives.

Not much investigation of Maddox's death.

How did Elnor beam right to them? Why not do it again to leave? Why leave him & Hugh there?

Was 8.5 for me. Went 9. Maybe too high. Serial episodes rarely pack the emotional punch for me.

I favor Jurati to be the instigator of the Mars attack.

If the speculation comes from info from the episodes to date, then it's fair game for open posting in the latest episode discussion thread.
Yes and that thread will be correctly prefixed as containing 'spoilers'. I think WarpFactorZ needs to think this through more carefully,

Pretty sure he was just speaking metaphorically, comparing the Romulans to the Borg Queen. "We have a new 'queen' now" as in "we used to have a queen, now we have the Romulans. Same difference."

It's like that bit in The Ten Commandments where Edgar G. Robinson mocks Moses by comparing him to Pharaoh. "It seems we have a new pharaoh now."

Hugh was not literally saying that the Romulans have a queen, just the the ex-Borgs have a new ruler.
"Let's meet the new boss, same as the ole boss." -- trading one type of tyranny for another.

I wonder how Elnor is going to get out of this scrape. Using a Transatlantic 1940s Accent, "I guess we'll have to find out at this theater next week!"

I'd forgotten that, but, yeah, they've been setting this up for awhile now. Didn't surprise me at all when they went there.
Maybe but I'm disappointed. Rios was the one guy I was counting on to not be a complete moron (Elnor's naive, Picard's clearly lost his touch and has no coherent plans, i.e. fly to the cube and force Raffi to deal with the details, Raffi's on drugs, Jurati's Zhat Vash). We all know he's got a muscular physique, but a sharpened brain to go with it, especially with his violent secret ops history on the ibn Majid, would feel more satisfying for his character.

He didn't have to be screaming "You're Zhat Vash", but maybe show him watching the altered security videos, talking with the EMH, noticing a glitch but not sure where it's from yet; that kind of thing.

Base of a scene from the Picard series trailer, which haven't been seen as of yet and won't be in episode 7, but will be in a later episode. If the Enterprise does show up, it won't be alone. I'm assuming that the Defiant will show up as well, alone with other starfleet starships to stop the Romulans from destroying the androids home world.

In The Q and the Grey, Q mentions the Romulan Empress. Maybe we have a long-term Empress behind the scenes of all these crazy Praetors, a la Queen Victoria. Perhaps Joanne Linville is available.

I vote for Commander Donatra to be the new Romulan Empress. Some novels already potrayed her as a potential big player in Romulus post-Nemesis. And this will bring back a Romulan character who is popular among some fans as well.
