Initial thoughts before I start reading the comments:
  • ACTING! (as in lot's of good acting)
  • When Jeri Ryan said she had trouble picking up the character again, I should have believed her. Nothing wrong with her acting, but it was much closer to the crusading lawyers and teachers she has played since Voyager.
  • That said, the final scene with Stewart was at least a glimpse of what there relationship could have been like had Picard found her first.
  • Stealing back from Galaxy Quest: I find Elnor's naïveté endearing. He does not understand deception.
  • Raffaela--I got that one right!
  • I love how everyone received personalized holographic ads--everyone except Elnor.
  • "Murder is not Justice!"--lots of classic Picard speeches
  • "You like it enough to keep it"--Picard's holo-study is an issue of some sort, at least symbollically

The end really showed the contrast between VOY Seven and PIC Seven. In Voyager, Janeway would've talked Seven down from killing Bjayzl. And then that would've been the end of it. In Picard, Seven only pretends to be talked down. Then, later on, she beams down and then goes into full-on Bad-Ass Mode.

The actress who plays Bjayzl, Necar Zadegan, is Iranian. I'm half-Iranian. So that was great to find out.

I didn't like they gorged out of the eye of a guy we - frankly - didn't know. A few scenes before he was captured would've just given more meaning to the gratuitous scene that we got. Icheb would be a bit of a distant/unknown figure to most of those watching I'd expect and I, myself, almost missed 7/9 saying his name.

Maybe they were assuming that most of the audience would know him. Not me, though. Didn't recognize him -- my facial recognition ability tests at the very bottom end of normal -- and I did miss Seven saying his name.

I wonder what the audience breakdown for the show looks like.

Could you walk me through this? You saw something I didn't. If there really were two operating personalities, why would the one doing the murders be conflicted about doing them?

We haven't actually seen two personalities. It's possible that the "second personality" (who talked about an ancient secret) is really Oh operating through Agnes via subspace a la Sarek and Michael's connection in Discovery. But I doubt that

It's just that she seems more nervous than before, with the EMH going online twice to stop her from having a full-fledged panic attack (and questioning why she was suddenly having psychological issues). The show is telling us that something is wrong with her brain. The exact opposite of having a revelation of great importance and acting accordingly.

Agnes killed Bruce, but she doesn't know why. And she *might* block it out later. Or just collapse into a ball and get confined to quarters as suggested upthread. But that would end her mission of sabotage that Oh apparently tasked her with (either subconsciously or pseudo-subconsciously).

Facial recognition wasn't a factor...they recast him. Prosthetic recognition, OTOH...

They didn't use his name in the opening scene, and I was kinda looking away most of the time, but I did recognize that he was a Brunali (or generic straight nose-ridge alien), and when Seven appeared, made the understanding that he might be Icheb. I halfway hoped they wouldn't reveal him to be Icheb (as they did at the end of the ep), but that we could speculate this ex-Borg, Brunali Starfleet officer was highly likely to be Icheb.

Pretty sure she did say his name in the death scene, you probably missed it. I watch with closed captioning on.

NEXT WEEK ON PICARD: The EMH's autopsy of Bruce Maddox reveals replicated chocolate chip cookie crumbs in all lobes of his lungs...

Holy shit. I did NOT see that coming. So the Doctor is working for the Zat Vash/Tal Shiar?

And Yes that was Icheb in the opening scene.

Really? She looked Betazoid for me.
She's insanely gorgeous!!!

Having the Doctor meeting with Commodore Oh and then curiously showing up everywhere wasn't odd?
