It's a good episode, but I'm confused about the timeline. I thought Kirk and Carol's romance took place before the Enterprise's five-year mission. In fact according to my research, David Marcus was born around the same year that "The Man Trap" took place. Only now does Kirk impregnate Carol!? Not enough time could pass before he reaches age 24 in The Search for Spock! I'm very confused.

so I have this right? Phase II/New Voyages is like if there had been the Phase II series in the 70s but with todays CG (but also with the hindsight of the movies/TNG etc series so they can use old Scotty, Sulu etc) and Continues is as if there had been a Season 4

Yeah I see STC as Season 4 as it's always been authentic to the era and their first vignette took straight off from Turnabout Intruder
Soooo with that logic in mind, with NV/Phase II being more contemporary with more direct links to the later shows and movies I see that as Season 5. Even though they started off as Yr 4 we can pretend it's Yr 5?
Even as Phase II it was set during the 5YM where as the aborted TV series would have been a whole new mission.

I had to pause about half an hour in to do other stuff. I'll watch the rest later. My opinions so far ...
For me, the jury is still out on Brian Gross. So far, his performance just doesn't convince me that he's Jim Kirk. We'll see how that goes, but I'm not optimistic.
I'm sorry to say it, but Brandon Stacy is not Spock. He doesn't look at all comfortable in the role, and quite frankly, looks to me like he could use more fiber in his diet. The wig is horrible, and the ears don't fit. It hurts me to watch him try to act as much as it looks like it hurts him.
Old Scotty looked the part, but that's about it. His presence didn't add anything to the story, but it was a nice gesture.
The Carol Marcus actress did a good job, so far as I've seen. She's the shining star of this one.
"Doc John" Kelley has done some nice work making the McCoy character his own. I think I've said it before, but you could put Corin Nemec in that wig and no one would know the difference.
I agree with above posts that the lighting and sound were wonky in spots. I expect better from this bunch.
