Also, I'd read a while back a little about the first Trek movie that never was (I seem to recall that the TOS crew went back in time and started life on Earth??) Can anyone point me in the direction of of a synopsis, in-depth article, or even original script/treatment (if it exists)?? I'd love to give it a read...

Putting Kirk in a fistfight with Jesus Christ is a little whiffy, too.

The whole thing is very ironic. As little love as I have for TMP, we now know that that first movie was magnificent compared to what Roddenberry wanted to do. We (and Star Trek) dodged a bullet!
