Well I've tired of my Galaxy refit and want to get the Intrepid refit instead. Saucer sep is cool but I'd rather have ablative armor. ;)
Do I have to dump the Galaxy to get the Intrepid?

Too bad I didn't go with the Intrepid to begin with. Now I see I need 500 emblems. That's going to take awhile.

yeah, that's kinda a drag, seeing as how it makes it pretty difficult to change ships as a VA. At every other level, it just cost a little bit of money, and was quite affordable.

Wonder if they're going to add a tier of ships when they increase the level cap to 61?

Thing is, the refits are not your average ship. You can still get all 6 standard ships for Energy Credits. Technically those are just as efficient as the refits. You can argue that so many emblems is to much to grind for but then at the same time you can buy them in the C-Store.

I heard they are.

Yeah, that's not going to happen.
I pay monthly for the subscription. That's enough. I have the original Intrepid yet, maybe I'll just switch to that one.

Fair enough, just as long as those ships remain C-Store items for the lazy people there is no way I would accept other people at least not working their ass off for them.
And to be honest, if you set up a tight schedule for emblem hunting you can do it in 2-3 weeks.

You get emblems for: Deferi dailies, Devidian dailies, B'Tran dailies, PvP dailies, STF runs, Fleet Action dailies. Those can all be done within a day and give you about 30 (?)emblems.

And that's supposed to be 'fun'?

Only thing less fun than just grinding a game is doing so without any sort of advancement, on fairly boring/repetitive missions, for one of about 15 forms of currency in the game.

And yeah, the ships are a little better than the tier before them, but isn't that the idea behind achieving the highest possible rank? At previous ranks, I'd occasionally have an escort and a cruiser to switch between, but now that I finally get the 'good' ship, sucks they put that ability out of reach. Paid $50 for the game, $240 something for the lifetime sub, and $75 for the first 6 month sub. Not shelling out more money for every ship skin, uniform tweak, or anything else they spend their time developing instead of working on gameplay, the first $400 is going to have to tide them over for a while. I like the idea of that Galaxy-X cruiser, but no way I'm giving them $20 for it

Do they have some kind of variable reward system? Many of the Trek characters had commendations and medals, maybe they could start awarding variable points values to those sorts of awards rather than simple rank advancement. Maybe they could seed ways of scoring more points into each missions (saving a ship or npc etc).

You can get:

Marks of Exploration T1-T4
Medals (for PvP) T1-T4
Marks of Valor for doing STFs
Emblems (a unified currency/reward for T5)
Crafting Skill points

All of these enabling you to pick rewards/items of higher efficiency than common loot or vendor items and even certain special ships by collecting a lot of emblems.

The devs are not happy though with the currency system and will change it to a single one at some point as DStahl has repeatedly stated.

I'm slowly working my way up the emblem chain. I almost have 200, and that's taken me about a month of doing dailies, on and off. What are the Devidian dailies and how many emblems do they offer? The Vulcan science ship and Nebula can only be obtained by marks of exploration, which are obtained by doing the B'Tran cluster (5 marks/day). If I find the grind gets too boring, I work on completing accolades to offer some variety until the next featured episodes are released.

Well you can probably get access to additional better ships when they move the cap up as I hear their adding a tier 6 for ships.

You can also get that for free if you can give 5 people your refer a friend codes and they then buy the game and a sucscription, and I think you get like 400 Atrai tokens per person you get to buy the game and a subscription.

Word.
I am still paying monthly. I think once I hit 400 days I may take a break for a month or two. Come back to it once they release a months worth of featured missions.

I'd love to do the referral thing, but honestly don't know anyone into Trek gaming (or really gaming at all) outside of us here, and most of you already have subs, which is how we're having the conversation :) If anyone here is still doing non-lifetime subs, and wouldn't mind using my referral code next time they buy in, though, I certainly wouldn't complain.

Honestly, the grind (plus the delay between weekly episode series) was one of the reasons I decided to buy the lifetime sub (when it was on sale for 20% off). I was getting annoyed/mad when I was going to be busy, or on vacation, etc because I was paying for time, and then couldn't use it. The last month of my initial 6-month sub was wasted as I was on my honeymoon, for example. Or once I got to the max level, I was still paying a monthly fee, but most of the content was finished, so I was paying to just waste time and grind out stuff that doesn't advance the character or storyline, basically waiting in the lull between weekly series. By going Lifetime, there's a lot less pressure to HAVE to play, and less annoyance when the weekly series doesn't start for another couple weeks. The total fee is paid off, and can play more at my convenience. At least, that's how it works in my head...

You do know you CAN cnvert Emblems to marks of Exploration at the Gamma Orionis Fleet (one of the ships will allow you a one way conversion), so, in effect is you want a ship that costs Marks (Like teh T5 Nebula); in effect, the Btran Daily is an addition to how fast you can grind Marks of Exploration.

That would work if I wasn't also trying to get another ship for 500 emblems. Once I get that ship, I'll earn more emblems that I will convert to marks of exploration to get the other ship I want. It is a grind, but it will pay off as I'll have the ships I want.

If anyone has the Intrepid refit from the C-Store, is it a good ship? This is the one I'm interested in getting through emblems.

Right now I prefer the Nebula but of skilled right, the Intrepid is more like the tactical version of teh science vessel where the Nebula is more cruiser like. It has a universal console but the Intrepid has one more console I believe.

i have a two part question...
(1) if you go through the game up until this moment in time like if you were an original player when beta and such were released and you continued to play to this very day on the same character and made it to the level cap...do you still collect points to put into the skills on the character option pages or when you hit the final level at this moment do you stop accumulating skill points for advancing your abilities?
(2) when they come out with the new tier of ships do you think they will add borg vessels to the ship options for those playing the Liberated Borg characters? there was a few episodes where borgs that were no longer connected to the main collective were able to control a borg vessel and thus in effect creating their own mini collective dealing with that particular ship.
oh yeah and does anyone know if there would be any way they might create a liberated borg character with assimilation tubules as either a kit or device? i think Seven still had hers and actually assimilated one or two people at one point when she first came aboard Voyager. then i think she also secreted some of her borg nanites from her tubules when the doctor wanted to study them when the futuristic borg known as One was created by Seven's Nanites and the Doctor's Holo-Emitter...
if you want to comment on what i typed you can feel free to either do it here which i probably wont see for i don't know how long might forget password and id lol...or you can respond via my email ajwilson0@yahoo.com.
