Very true. When I let go and started enjoying myself it got a lot easier to play. I even got promoted to lieutenant 3. Not too impressive for many of you admirals but I'm awfully proud.
I have to admit, the game is sounding more fun to me. (Haven't tried it yet due to older PC) What you all have been talking about is my approach to gaming also. I did a lot of that in LOTRO when I was playing it. Just have my character hang out for a few minutes, smoking his pipe. Interact with the other PC's in character, really have fun with it. Perhaps us old-school pen/paper RPG'ers have an advantage here.
It seems a lot of people are just in it to race through as fast as possible, and min/max their stats, which is only one component of RPG'ing.
It isn't just for STO, but the last week or so I've caught the PC-upgrade bug, badly. Hours and hours on tomshardware, newegg, etc. It's a goddamn bewildering process, but I'm getting it fairly well narrowed down.
So, eventually, I think I'll see y'all at Quark's.

part of the reason i got a runabout. loaded it up with a few higher level weapons etc then went into some low level encounters for a laugh

just to let everybody know.
We finally got authentic TOS female uniforms in the game.
Proper miniskirt and top, as well as nylon stockings and boots.:bolian:

Right now I'm sporting a Connie. I have no intention of giving her up. If I keep upgrading the weapons as I level up will I be able to compete in the later levels?

You will be able to mount higher level weapons and stuff, but not as many as necessary. You won't be able to use better Bridge Officer skills either. It's fun to return to your starter ship, retrofit it with high end equipment if you repeat earlier missions. But don't try to flay a commander mission with only ensign consoles and three ship weapons.

How do you get anyone at Memory Alpha to acknowledge all of your particles and stuff you have collected with scans?

I've never been able to either. I'd be playing right now if it weren't taking so long to fucking patch.:scream:

I would wait before doing anything in Memory Alpha right now.
I believe a new MA crafting system is almost ready and being tested on Tribble right now and will be available soon.
