Star Trek on the iPhone

Does anybody know if there are any Star Trek movie applications planned for the iPhone? A few other major films have games and other apps and I'd love a few more Trek related things for mine! I think that this might be another good way to promote the film if done right, as iPhone apps are very popular.

A few original series Star Trek comics have recently been released on the iPhone, is there any chance that Star Trek: Countdown might be released in this format? Maybe the compilation?

Given that Paramount have released applications for the likes of Watchmen and they are giving Star Trek the full tent pole treatment I would have to assume we will see similar releases for Trek. I can't seem them releasing Countdown on the iphone though which is a pity. Other than the two Peter David comments could you recommend any other good Star Trek applications?

There are NO other good Star Trek applications on the phone at the moment, which is why I thought the new Star Trek movie might be a good excuse to get one or two.

I have the Peter David comics, and I never read comics... never been in to them. However I'm finding them really accessible in this format, and I think Countdown would be great if available.

I've also started downloading Star Trek ebooks on to my iphone too. So if you're in to the books maybe you want to give a few of them a try...

Yeah I really like the comic format on the iphone and like you I never previously read the comics. I would be delighted if they did release the Countdown series as well but I can't see it being released as an ap for the forseable future. Most of the comics I've seen available on the UK app store seem to be priced pretty cheaply at around £0.59 which would clearly be too low a price to release it at as it would impact the sales of the trade paperback. I'd be more than happy to pay a few pound per issue but I don't think there is a sufficient market out there at the moment to make it a profitable venture for paramount. You never know though, Paramount might put it out after the films release if its a big hit.

Its funny you should mention using the iphone as a reader for Trek novels. I'm a lapsed fan of the books as I've not really had chance to read them these last few years but I did download a book reader the other week for the specific reason of getting back into Trek fiction. I've not downloaded any yet though as I bought myself the first Vanguard novel as well but I still have to find the time to read that the old fashioned way!

Woooo got my wish! :D

I would NEVER buy a comic, but have no qualms purchasing them this way. I Bought all of the Countdown releases so far and read through them this morning. Fantastic! :techman:

Yeah, just seeing this (from TrekMovie):
Countdown & other IDW comics on iTunes & Android

There is another way to read Star Trek Countdown, you can pick it up in the Applications store of iTunes for your iPhone or iTouch. You can also buy the comics for your Google Android phone as well. Each issue is a separate app and they cost $0.99 each. All three are now available on iTunes and for Android (and will be available on Amazon Kindle soon).
I don't have an iPhone or Android myself (and with my eyesight the thought of trying to read even plain text on a small screen threatens to bring on a headache) but I know this is something a lot of people are going to find handy.
