Star Trek on Family Guy again...

Missus and I really like Family Guy and have seen many episodes on a random basis. Being the same age range as MacFarlane I get almost all the homages to the various shows and movies from the 70s and 80s and that makes it entertaining for me. However, we've not seen many of the latest episodes. Has it really gotten bad?

I think so. I actually stopped watching it regularly this season because it's devolved into nothing but random homages and repeated humor much of the time, IMO. I caught last night episode by chance, not by design.

Wow. I can't believe I'm one of the very few on the trekbbs that likes FG. I love Family Guy. And I loved that scene with Wrath of Khan. I had to rewind it and watch it two or three times. I enjoyed that whole episode.

And two or three weeks before, they did parodied the song and dance number "Me Ol' Bamboo" from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

I can't believe I'm the only person who likes these things.

I love Family Guy, just not the stuff McFarlane has been giving us since season 4. Are you like one of those people that only loves the later Simpsons seasons too?

They already did a TWOK reference when Brian sold Rupert at a garage sale. There is no humor when you don't change any elements in the skit. The dialogue and scene were verbatim TWOK.

Take the 1984 time travel episode, the joke of the homage was the choice of song.

No, actually I love all seasons of Family Guy, and all seasons of Simpsons.

I know a lot of people complain about the quality, or lack thereof, of recent seasons of both series. But as long as they keep making them, I'll keep watching because I enjoy them both very much.

And whenever there's a movie reference in FG, whether it's been done before, I'll always enjoy it.

'The Simpsons' morphed into something different by the later seasons, style-wise. The same with 'FG.' However, while later 'Simpsons' is different, I'd argue that it's still funny. I wouldn't say the same for 'FG.'

I doubt you'd find many people who think the Simpsons is equally as funny as it was during seasons 3-8.

The Simpsons needs to be euthanized. That episode where they completely retconned the Marge/Homer back story was awful.

We are supposed to believe that Homer and Marge are college bound Gen Xers, what a load of crap.

Shows start out, peek and decline. It is very sad when the decline period is more than half the life of the show.
