I have neither book, but I can say that they are not part of the relaunch. The DS9 relaunch lit list can be found here. The page may open with some spoilers (I don't know; I didn't read opening dilberately), so just go to the book list midpage (it has the cover pics too)

They're both more humor than novel-type stories, so nothing at all to do with the relaunch. You must have noticed they're very short too. Definitely worth it.

ETA: I shelved mine with the old Trivia books and things like the Encyclopedia and TNG Episode companion rather than with the novels, if that helps give you an idea what they're like.

Yes, same here.

They're in no way relevant to the novels, but they are very funny, or so I thought. Not essential or important by any means at all, but an amusing diversion.
