Why is Paris still a Lieutenant? That’s what bugged me the most.
Also that joke about him flying them to the Delta Quadrant doesn’t work as he wasn’t even piloting the ship at the time.
Apparently (According to Memory Alpha) the start of Lower Decks is only 2 years after the end of Star Trek Voyager.

Voyager was 2371-2378

LDS = 2380-

Star Trek Picard is in 2399,
The Synth attack on Mars is on April 5th, 2385.

So it hasn't occured yet.

I know but you’d think they would all get promotions.
We also got confirmation about the pheromones here. I suspected the ones in Enterprise were unique. Like the Ardat-Yakshi with the Asari in Mass Effect.

I think their promotion was going from "Provisional Ranks" that Janeway Authorized to fully commisioned ranks after coming back.

Maybe they were "Genetically Enhanced" pheremones?

Didn't Janeway give Tom Paris back his rank of lieutenant junior grade in Caretaker, but he was still a convict and former Maquis member..? Maybe Starfleet didn't want to promote him after their return to the Alpha Quadrant, because of his history?

It seems like he's been promoted to "Full Lieutenant" by this time in Lower Decks, so he did get bumped up technically and he doesn't have a "Provisional" Rank status, he seems to be fully commisioned and authorized after his time on VOY.

Anyways, I really liked the "Girls Trip!" and how it put more focus on Tendi.
We got to see more of her Orion heritage and it seems like we find out about Mariner's Type.

She likes Big Muscular Bad Boys and Bad everything.

And Tendi showing off her domineering Orion side briefly was neat.

1. Mariner is now officially recognized as bisexual. That's cool.
2. Tendi does not have pheremones! (Or DOES she?)
3. Caitans go into heat.
4. I don't mind what Shax is saying but fully believe that he just met the Prophets and they messed with him badly. I also think it would have been significantly funnier if we never heard any of what he told Rutherford.
5. Those plates are sturdy
6. I actually think it's kind of sad that they're emphasizing that Tendi is an exception rather than Starfleet was REALLY racist to the Orions.
7. My wife said that Zoe Saldana beat Mariner to the punch being green.
8. I'm disappointed it wasn't Freecloud that they visited. Surprisingly, HUGELY, disappointed.
9. I was hoping for more Tom Paris.
10. I wish this episode had Boimler and Rutherford bonding.
11. I don't know if Mariner and Boimler are being teased or sunk. I can't tell if she's sincere about thinking him a pet or not.
12. I'm glad she got a box. But couldn't she have replicated one?

She seems beyond Bi-Sexual, she's Omni-sexual

Tendi does not have pheremones! (Or DOES she?)
Maybe she took whatever treatment to tone it down or lock it away?

It would be a problem in StarFleet academy if she made all the men on campus fall in love with her.

Those plates are sturdy
24th Century Ceramics?

Maybe we might get to see Mariner + Jack Ransom finally sleep together.

Mariner does have a thing for Muscular guys.

I took that as commentary with how every fictional female character created in the last few years is attracted to everything.

To be fair, it’s only been 5 years since the majority stopped being pirates.
I did like the line though, with her thinking that humans see them as thieves and pirates, only for her to say that her cousin works at a thieves den at a pirate outpost.

Eh. Not terrible, but they do love the reset-button. I know they played it for laughs here, but... Anyway, yeah. I'll focus on the positive: I liked the parts with Mariner and Tendi on Freecloud, and later on elsewhere with them trying to escape from the Orions. Otherwise... Like I said: Eh. It's not enough.

Maybe I'll binge the rest of the season when it ends. This feels more like a Berman Show to me than a Kurtzman Show. More power to the people who like it but, 13 episodes in, I'm realizing it's not for me.

But heck, 13 episodes. Glass half-full. That's twice as many episodes as there were before I bailed on ENT back in '01.

eh it was alright nothing spectacular
x2

We also got confirmation about the pheromones
i hope they never reference ''orion pheromones'' that shit can stay in the early 2000
my hope have been dashed :barf2: what's next decon gel :sigh:

not sure why, but I'm really not feeling this whole season in general right now.

It's fine, and I still enjoy it for what it is while it's on, but I haven't had the urge to rewatch any of these episodes like I did with the first season.
yeah same

The worst of the three new episodes but it was still okay. Just barely.

I did like how the Orions were all different shades of green to reflect the differing shades of body makeup used on actors and extras over the decades. But there wasn't much else in this one that I genuinely liked. The Tom Paris cameo should have been a lot better than this.

S'funny. It was the best of the three so far for me. The gradual destruction of the cat-post landed for me, as did the fact the Doc only wants the box. As a cat owner, I appreciate the gag. Boimler got plenty to do and clearly there's something up with what happened onboard the Titan (called it last week! :-D). I like Boimler being Kazon and the general VOY jokes (following from Those Old Scientists last season. What's TNG? Those New Guys?)

That was a good episode. Not as good as last week's but way better than the season premiere. I liked the jokes about senior officers coming back to life. And Mariner still being soft-racist to Tendi. First she tries to make her play an Orion pirate in the holodeck and then those comments about pheremones.

Tendi's faced more heat for being Orion than Nog ever seemed to face for being Ferengi.

Regardless of the majority occupation of a race it's inexcusable in the idealistic Federation to judge anyone based on anything but their own actions.
