I disagree, this post puts it in better words than I can.

Also, she never calls Picard 'rich'.

Why? We've heard/seen of people being fired in Trek before.

Based on comments on twitter they were inspired by the Anticans and the uh... other species I don't remember the name of, but they're not actually them, just a allusion to the TNG species.

No. If you’re truly friends you will see shortcomings in another, it only becomes an issue when the one refuses to apologize and try to be better.

I'm not saying she shouldn't forgive her, I'm saying I think the feelings would realistically be a bit raw for a bit longer than that.

What she did is no different than if you had a Muslim friend, and you wrote a play and immediately cast him as a terrorist without asking him.

There was an episode where we saw Picard and Guinan shooting targets on the holodeck.

It was Worf and Guinan. "New Ground," I think. Picard did his Dixon Hill thing and rode horseback on the holodeck, but I don't think we saw him target shooting, and it doesn't seem a Picardesque thing to do.

Picard and Riker were target shooting in the opening scene of A Matter of Honor.

Anyone else think Tendi forgave Mariner a little too easily for forcing her to act out a negative racial stereotype she's probably faced prejudice for?
Nope. It seems many Orions gave up their pirate lives just 5 years ago or something like that.

They were so funny in BotF, bickering in diplomatic messages XD

Maybe a little exaggerated, but I loved the concept of making fun of movies in general and NuTrek in particular. Little jokes along the way made me chuckle and the "cliffhanger" of Boimler finding out Freeman is Mariner´s mother took me off guard. Nice little touch with Mariner stereotyping Orions...
God, only one left!

That's the point, don't you think Tendi faced challenges among humans with people assuming she was associated with slave traders?

Tendi even tried to tell Mariner she wasn't okay with play-acting an Orion slave trader and she didn't listen.

That's number 5618 on Mariner's being herself list, which includes bad language, yawning non-stop at meetings, mocking someone's speech problems...

from tendi's reactions I'm sure she comes from a family of pirates and slavers who are trying to change

I just thought of a funny plot where they show up as Orions that do the whole pirate thing as entertainment. You can hire them out to have a "pirate" experience for parties or whatnot. But they do it in with earth pirate stereotype mannerisms.
Yo ho yo ho, it's a pirate's life me....
