I mean, I get Mariner is a nerd for these things. But there have to have been other famous captains to geek out about as well. Or things they did in-universe which are famous we never got to see.

Actually, that would be awesome...if she did "Remember when the Enterprise..." and it was something that never happened onscreen. It would be canon some incredible absurd adventure happened that would have made for a fantastic episode...only it wasn't an episode.

Or referenced a comic/novel/video game adventure...or a captain we never heard of: "We're not on the USS Katherine Johnson, and you're no Captain Solok!".

What sort of name is Jennifer for a Andorian?

Maybe she was raised by humans? Or maybe names have started crossing species. Maybe there are little human Spocks and Martoks out there.

I enjoyed that. Some good references. Suliban. Lore. "Its something new every week with those guys"

I think the best part was the guy trying to transfer to the Cerritos. "I can't be epic anymore! The stress!"

:guffaw:

I give it an 8.

The people tend to be, not necessarily the tech....:)

With the caveat, of course, that they don't "do" basic tactical awareness very well. One day someone should systematically tally all the instances in of all of Trek that would have been solved by having a) body cameras on all crew b) security cameras and crew posted at critical areas and c) common sense and use of tools readily available to them.

It boils down to the same thing every other Trek story does, the characters are as competent as the plot requires. :techman:

Give their hero status, they're probably a lot of Fed citizens named "Kirk" and "Spock". Most of whom aren't Vulcan or Human. "Jennifer" might even be a popular name on Bajor right now.(the 24th Century)

Fed citizen: "...and these are my children. Shran, Zephram and Gorkon"

I recall not too long ago that “Khaleesi” was a popular name for newborn girls. People get inspiration from diverse sources. Many immigrant families have adopted regional names IRL in an effort to assimilate into the culture for centuries.

I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that alien races may decide to use human names at one point. The recent Captain of the Merced was named “Durango” and he was a freakin’ Tellarite!

Poor Bradward probably has this on repeat.
