Star Trek: Klingon?

A TOS Movie era (straddling The Undiscovered Country) family action-drama roughly based on King Lear.

Or a Bat'leth and sorcery fantasy epic called Kahless

Do you think they could do a Trek series from the Klingon point of view?

If so, in which era should it take place?

Would people watch it?

This idea has come up more times over the past 10 years that I can remember and my response is the same: No network would ever sign on to series that appeals solely to fanboys and girls.

Yeah, we'd watch it but we'd be the only ones.

Personally, one of the most boring and uninteresting aspects of Star Trek is watching, and reading about, Klingons interacting with each other for any prolonged length of time.

Well, they aren't boring but the problem I believe is that TNG made them very one-dimensional. DS9 and -- dare I say it -- ENT did probably the best job at expanding beyond the idea that everyone in Klingon society is a warrior.

But I totally agree with you that as much as I like the Klingons, an entire series revolving around their interaction with each other would suck donkey balls.

As muchas I like the Klingons, there are a lot of aspects about the Klingons that just aren't likable or even relatable to a television audience particularly the concept of expansion of their Empire through brutality.

While we're at it, why not just have a SW show from the persepctive of the Empire?

Yes I'd watch a Klingon centered show from any era but as my family (embarrassed) so often points out I am a TrekGeek. I think it would be interesting to see them in the era of Kahless as the Empire is just beginning to grow and colonize other planets. Everyone makes a big deal about Quonos but the strength of the empire is based on colonizing - probably not very gently either - other planets. I'm not anymore tired of Klingons than anyone else in the TrekVerse - except maybe Seven of Nine.

Seriously, that's the Goddamn last thing I would ever want to watch...
