Star Trek IV ending credits

I find the scenes shown during the ending credits of Star Trek IV fascinating. There are some scenes shown in the movie, and some not, and some shown but at different angles. One thing I just noticed this morning that during the scene of the control center, it's being shown at fast speed...not really fast motion but just enough that you can tell it's not right. With the credits rolling, it's hard to tell, but if you focus on one person, you can clearly see it's not at normal speed. Someone at some point decided to do that...I wonder why.

I'd love to be able to watch this without the credits on the screen. There is some good stuff.

I remember sneaking in to the theater to watch the closing credits of the previous showing when I went to see STIV. When the shot of the Enterprise came up, I muttered "back from the dead" to myself. Thankfully, I didn't notice the A on the hull, so I was still surprised when the new Enterprise made its debut in the movie. I really could have spoiled something for myself!

I'm not sure if many people realize today that they kept the fact that STIV's plot involved whales a secret before the release. I had no idea that humpback whales figured into the story at all, and I just naturally discovered it over the course of the film. I enjoyed the film a lot more that way.

You might read a spoiler or two in the front section of Starlog if they got a really lucky scoop, but otherwise it was pretty tough to get news. Somehow, rumors would occasionally spread word-of-mouth through fandom at conventions and such, and sometimes they'd be TRUE!

Definitely easier to keep spoiler free pre-internet days. But the internet has brought one advantage no longer have to wait months or even years to see movies/new episodes.

I remember before TSFS came out, I tried to keep it from myself if Spock would really return from the dead. It seems unusual now, but back then, as a young teenager, I honestly didn't know if they would bring him back. It seemed rather too good to be true. Anyway, I managed to keep that info from myself until about an hour or two before the movie started, and I caught the cover of the Official Movie Magazine (published by Starlog) with a nice photo of Spock in his ST3 robes and mussed hair. I was so pissed.

It was a very short piece entitled, as I recall, "Exploding Enterprise" (possibly with a question mark at the end). 34 years ago, so hard to recall EXACTLY.

Pretty sure the Starlog article came before the trailer. That or I read the article before I saw the trailer (if I even saw the trailer). I def. recall the Enterprise with primary hull destroyed was in TV ads I saw before I saw the movie, but regardless I was commenting on someone's post about Starlog scoops. I recall reading the article in the winter of 1984 (March at the latest).

Spock on the cover of the STIII Starlog movie magazine, the enterprise being shown blowing up in tv spots & trailers, FX guys revealing it blows up in pages of starlog, those Trek III glasses that were give aways at the cinemas that spoiled the entire plot on them..

seems it was worse then than today for spoilers!

My point was only that Paramount didn’t care too much about keeping secrets on that movie.

In the USA, those glasses came from Taco Bell. Says so right on the glass. There was also a Taco Bell commercial plugging the glasses.

Haha I have three of those Taco Bell glasses in mint condition, all except the Fal-Tor-Pan. I didn't even know I was missing one till I watched the commercial above. My former bother in law found them at a thrift store for a dollar each and picked them up for me about 7 years ago.

I only had the "Fate of the Enterprise" as a kid growing up.
