Mmmkay.

So was Roddenberry allegedly in contact with this group while he was a pilot or while he was a cop? And who's going to believe that Roddenberry, who was always so vocal about how Humanss had achieved everything on their own ("No, aliens did not come down and build the pyramids! Human beings built them!") would privately have known he was in contact with nine principle aliens who are governing and guiding humanity from afar?

Remember a few years ago when the "Sci-Fi Channel" changed their spelling to "SyFy" so they could start to move away from strictly science fiction programming? Why didn't "The History Channel" follow suit and change the spelling of their name to "the Bullshit Channel?"

So the Mysterious 9 wanted to guide us via psychic contact to a better future, so they gave Gene Roddenberry a TV show?

Wow, just wow. Even for Ancient Aliens, that's just... wow. Words truly fail me.
Why didn't "The History Channel" follow suit and change the spelling of their name to "the Bullshit Channel?"
At least Ancient Aliens is kind of historical, even if it's more pseudo-historical. What does Pawn Stars or Counting Cars have to do with history? And I say this as someone who likes Pawn Stars.

And besides, I always found Ancient Aliens to be relatively tame compared to Hangar 1 UFO Files.

Gravity Falls hit that one on the nose:

You think this is bad? At least it's kinda history....

The entire network is almost completely stupid, fake "reality" shows.

SyFy for all its faults and the fact that no show on there will EVER go beyond five seasons(Haven is an exception sorta because they made a double season five to make it cheaper than doing season six).... at least they haven't completely destroyed the network. They have some of those dumb monster movies of the week, but still have a few good shows. History.. meh... about the only good thing they've done this decade is Vikings.

Well, Pawn Stars do occasionally help you learn something about the odd items that come into the shop... So, there's some history learnin' involved there...

I mean Pawn Stars is sort of stupid too but it's as smart as Star Trek when you compare it to something like trashy Kardashian's or Real Housewives, or some garbage like that.

I just got back from the gym (so this may be the endorphins and fatigue talking), but people who buy this shit should make it into a TV show or movie or graphic novel or something; but keep it off the god. damn. "History" Channel. Ditto horror or fantasy on Sci-Fi (Syfy, my ass). Get rich off the next X-Files; more power to you. But quit warping the minds of our children and weakening the resolve of our allies.

EDIT: I mean, this is why astrology is still a thing. Why anti-vaccers are killing children and anti-GMO folks are starving people. Why Global Warming may be something we're shaking our heads at from higher altitudes later, and why Intelligent Design is taught alongside Evolution in Science classes. Let's be able to identify when something actually is a conspiracy theory, false equivalence, or other logical fallacy.

Wow! If Roddenberry was a member and took ideas such as the Prime Directive, doesn't mean he believed what they were spouting, just that it might add something to storytelling (heroes wanting to help a planet in danger but would have to go against the rulebook to do so).

Also "overlords"?

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Isn't psychically taking control of a society via it's media kind of the antithesis of the Prime Directive?

So historically it was historical?

Actually I rather like "Black Sails"...

I miss the days when I could put THC on Saturday morning and get hours of WWII documentaries and Mail Call....
