Star Trek: Higher Calling series

Hey everyone,
This is the pilot episode of my new series, Higher Calling: Discovery
It's set in the 6th season of TNG, two years after Wolf 359. Captain Scilding commands the USS Utopia, an America class vessel refitted with anti-Borg weaponry, re-assigned to patrol the Daltari-Klingon border, where tensions have been rising for the last year. It's an early draft, so it's incomplete. If you have any pointers, things that could sound better, feel free to write it. I don't mind constructive critique.
I changed the uniforms, and if anyone would like to help me do some generic humans/officers in uniform, I'd appreciate it.

Interesting start, and your inclusion of another Roddenberry character was...interesting. Nice to see Trance in another universe, and BTW, I knew it was her bofore her name was revealed.

I saw your ships page & I'd love to help out with your Emperor-Class & X-Class listings especially one called the U.S.S. Kierkegaard, NCC-?????.

I'd love to see you use vessels from my website that are there for this specific purpose. To be used/referenced in fan fiction.

Why not use known ship-classes such as Kaden's Legacy-Class (U.S.S. Cadence) or other non-canon / PC Game mod vessels from "Star Trek: Bridge Commander", etc.?

I'll definitely look at those ships for use, with credit, of course . As for Kierkegaard, the ship is from the 2340s, and I would see it as an early 24th century ship, so a registry in the 10xxx to 3xxxx range there.

I've updated the ship page, and the bios for the crew, as well as the pilot story. I've included an image of engineering as well, so you can see how it looks. If anyone wants to render it...

Chapter 1 is coming along nicely. The brief tour of the ship and the introductions of the various crew were well handled. I’m liking Captain Scilding already, who strikes me as a bit unconventional. He’s certainly absorbed enough grief in his life to earn the right to be a bit different.

I *L-O-V-E* the Valley Forge-Class starship. I'd love to be the one staring down a few B'rel-Class BOP's in my viewscreen using that ship. I might use the V.F.-Class in a "Yesturday's Enterprise" style flashback story in one of my own fics. Where did you find her? There just aren't enough nicely done NX-Class to Loknar-Class futurehistory lineage refits/varients like that one. The DEFIANT-CLASS of her time-period.

I created the ship back in 2005 or so; Vance changed it a little from the original pencil drawing I did when he graciously made the line drawing (original I did is here.) If anyone wants to make a render of it, feel free.

The VF-class would definitely be a ship to serve on back in the day...send ten VF, five Constitution, and four Excelsiors into battle. See who wins that one.

Anywho, I'm glad you like it. I'll put up some pics of the Utopia itself shortly. In the meantime, here's engineering lower and upper

I just checked out your engineering deck layout & noticed something. CLOAKING SYSTEMS? The Treaty of Algeron SPECIFICALLY forbids it. Secondly, what's an "Emperor-Class" vessel? It seems more like a Terran Empire vessel than a Starfleet vessel to me. I'd re-name the X-Class & Emperor-Class to more suitably "starfleet" names (, such as the Chamberlain-Class and the Churchill-Class.)

They're from one host with "artist credit" text links back to the website itself in case the host kills the graphics links at their end.

J-Johnson: I've drafted something I think you'll like, based on Vance's diagram of the Valley Forge. One of the U.S.S. Valley Forge's sister-ships, the U.S.S. Discovery, finds itself on a surveillance mission to keep an eye out for Norexan & Schimitar-Class warbirds along the Federation/Romulan border. When, they're suddenly reassigned to a protectorate battle group of grossly under-equipped surplus vessels pitted against the Hurq in 2380.

X-class was more a simple placeholder, and the Emperor class may need a new name...I'll come up with something on that. I've been in Europe on vacation, so my internet availability has been a bit spotty. I'll also be looking over your story there...

Here's a new direct link to the new version of "Star Trek: Damascus" that ~was~ (formerly) titled "Star Trek: Discovery" but 'Discovery' has been used & done to death as the name of a ship and/or the name of a ship's class in Trek fics & so i changed it.
