Star Trek Generations Politics

I don't agree with RP on many things, espechally being a European his brand of politics is very out there from our perspective, in some areas anyway.

But I would have preferred a joke in the show similar to that, to the snotty smarmy precheecyness of the show in the early days.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a future where currency has become mostly obsolete for most items due to tech advancements, I think poverty can be eliminated a crime reduced to next to nothing...but a series should not preach to you about the evils of greed and capitalism and then its network takes youtube videos down, sells rafts of tacky cheap overpriced merchandise, tells me on itunes I can't download a trek series even when I'm willing to pay because of regional copyright rules...and have most of its budget made up of bloated salaries of actors who will go on tv and then preach about the evils of greed and the wonder of a world without money.

Hypocracy pisses me off no matter where its coming from.

I don't get you, SuperXPS. You think that the network and series, and the governments of the nations the series airs in, are one in the same - but they're not. Besides, would you rather the series just try to push a pro-consumerist agenda equating happiness with whatever products the network's advertisers are trying to sell?

Regarding the video, even though I don't agree with their politics here, I'm always impressed when fans get creative. I wish I knew how to make a video like that.
