It would be interesting to see a 3D galaxy map, so we could see the actual space that each government takes up ...

Someone with skills should set up a 3D map on a website that people can spin around and zoom in on! You could press a button on it and highlight all the planets that, I dunno, Archer visited in Enterprise season 2, or have shown up in the movies. Or overlay the massively contradictory journeys of Kirk in Final Frontier and Janeway in Voyager.
