Star Trek Fiction

Hello, :)

I am new and honestly, I didn't know the best way to resolve my problem....so I joined.

I have LOTS AND LOTS of Star Trek books. The last one I bought seems to be Star Trek Voyager - Echoes - #15, published in 01/98. I have probably close to 200. Original, TNG, DS9 and Voyager. I have many other miscellaneous ones as well.

I want to get rid of them (dump in trash) , but I wanted to try & see if I could give them to someone who wants them first. I even have 5 or 6 from the original series that my Father bought...back in the 60's, adapted by James Blish. Also, they're just in my bookcases, not kept safe or untouched by the elements. :( So, some are very delicate.

Anyhow, those are a few details. I could just dump them, but I want to try & give them away to someone that would want them.

I hope it was ok to post this here and I would LOVE if I could give them away. NO MONEY AT ALL!! Also, I live in Chicago and was hoping for someone to "bring boxes and take them away". I know it's limiting, but I'm not willing to mail or send them. :(

So, here's hoping for the best. I await any response. Oh....I'll give my e-mail...gosh...I hope that's ok. alfrank04@aol.com

See if you can trade them in at a used-book store -- you might be able to get store credit or even cash for them. Failing that, you could donate them to your local library or to Goodwill.

You're probably right. The old ones are probably not worth anything to anyone, since they're not in real good condition.

I'll wait a few days, but I suppose utimately, I can give the decent condition ones to the library or check a used book store and the rest......a sad trashy ending.

Thanks for responding.

I'd be interested in the TOS ones, but I live in Boston. If you wanted to send them to me I'd be willing to send you a couple bucks via paypal to cover shipping costs.

^ No we can't have that discussion on this. I'm only comfortable with this thread in so far as it's a "free, come get it not shipping it" type of thing. To many trust/scam possibilities doing things via shipping and money exchanging hands.

Oops, sorry about that, didn't mean to break any rules.

Half Price Books, at least the one in my neighborhood, recycles books that they are not interested in reselling. Make sure you check into that possibility before simply throwing any old books into the garbage . . .

Thanks Scott. :techman: Another good idea, I had no clue that a used book store might recycle for me.

Sorry Erastus, :( I am definitively looking to just give, not get, but not put out any money to send.

I felt I had to try, but I got a few good ideas. Thanks everybody. :bolian:
