Star trek Epochs

Yeah..but the logic is there..

Rob

I suppose most "epoch making" is an over-generalization, but I'd resist calling 1999-2005 "bad years" I would pit many episodes from Enterprise's last two years (and especially the 4th) against many TOS episodes...and the ENT eps would be better. Plus both Insurrection and Nemesis made over $120 million from all sources, while not in league with many blockbusters of today, its hardly trivial.

I wouldn't. Not a single episode of Enterprise holds even a flicker of a candle to previous episodes, even to BAD TOS episodes. Not even the "vaunted" 4th season, that by quite a few non knowledgeable fans go on about how great that season is and how "it brings it back into continuity", when in fact it doesn't.

The fourth season is nothing but the continuation of plothole-ridden junk, and horrible bad continuity-porn to boot that in all cases made the breaks with continuity WORSE than ever.

I would go as far to say that there are episodes of ENT that are better than 70-80% of TOS. Same with Voyager, and that's my least favorite series. Just because its TOS doesn't mean its ALL automatically better than newer shows. Far from it.

This is how I see it:

1.) Herb Solow
2.) Filmation
3.) Jeffrey Katzenberg
4.) Harve Bennett
5.) Rick Berman
6.) J.J. Abrams

You'd be wrong, Gene Roddenberry was still the single greatest influence on STNG and Berman's era.

It also shocks me now to realize how many people forget how many great episodes Berman, Braga, Moore, etc were involved with from STNG onwards. Its easy to make a blanket statement about "TPTB" from that time, but like most generalizations, it doesn't really ring true.

Did I write that? Where the f did I write that?

I nowhere wrote anything of the sort. In fact, most of DS9 I consider better than TOS.

It's just that Enterprise is a pile of junk, from beginning to end, and it's pretty much impossible NOT to be better than Enterprise. Which makes TOS lightyears ahead of Enterprise, and DS9 even further.

I totally agree...I still think that BERMAN did more good than he did wrong...Too me he was like the GENERAL MANGAGER of a football team. He put together some good teams, won the superbowl, but then his ability to pick new talent waned over time...then his later teams were just not up to snuff..the he retired, being booed out of the stadium by the fans..
