Considering the lead character is an expert in xenoanthroplogy, I'm guessing we see that expertise put to use (i.e., in "seeking out new life and new civilizations").

'Discovery' is the series title - The word 'discovery' brings to mind imagery of exploration and adventure.

All that we have seen in trailers so far is war, death and destruction.

Should they have named the series after a famous naval warship instead? USS Vctory (ok we have already had that but it could be an earlier version!). USS Constitution? (maybe that's not politically correct anymore as some people see the constitution as being offensive these days haha), USS Alabama? USS Arizona? Why did they name the hero starship in a series about war 'Discovery' - I can't wait to find out!!

Discovery's trailers consist of Klingons attacking and ships blowing up, Saru talking about an "object of unknown origin", red alert blaring, and some personal drama between Georgiou and Burnham.

Now consider, TMP was probably the most exploration-heavy 120 minutes of Star Trek ever. In the 70s, TMP's trailer consisted of Klingons attacking and ships blowing up, Kirk talking about an "alien object of unbelievable destructive power", red alert blaring, and some personal drama between Decker and Ilia.
