Star Trek Discovery S2 Emmy Nominations

The Emmy nominations were announced and Discovery received four nominations.

- OUTSTANDING MAIN TITLE DESIGN
- OUTSTANDING PROSTHETIC MAKEUP FOR A SERIES, LIMITED SERIES, MOVIE OR SPECIAL - "If Memory Serves"
- OUTSTANDING SOUND EDITING FOR A COMEDY OR DRAMA SERIES (ONE HOUR) - "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2"
- OUTSTANDING SPECIAL VISUAL EFFECTS - "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2"

The Emmy’s are getting kinda silly. GoT’s having 32 for 6 episodes? And 4 out of 6 of the lead actor in a drama category? I’m a fan of GoT but damn.

Nothing above the line, then? Just tech awards?

Tell me they weren't nominated for those terrible Talosians. The makeup for Saru's people was much better.
don't think they're terrible, but the kelpien and ba'ul make ups from "sound of thunder" were more interesting.

either way game of thrones or chernobyl will take the award. these awards voters still favor "grounded" work to the much more arduous, creative work done in genre TV and film (see: star trek beyond's oscar loss to suicide squad).

I see that The Orville is nominated for Oustanding Special Visual Effects as well.

Best Hairstyling remains elusive.

It's nice to see genre shows like Discovery and The Orville in the mix, even if it's primarily technical awards. I won't hold my breath...but wish them the best of luck!

It's the "final chance to praise a cultural landmark"-phenomen. It's the same reason why the third Lord of the Rings-movie got all the oscars, even though it was the weakest of the three.

If only they gave out Emmys for the worst horseshit ever written. This show would clean up in that category.
That's a bit harsh, ain't it?

I flick away your opinion like a dry buggar on the tip of my finger.

Because it was a meaningless, ignorant broadside from someone who obviously didn’t watch the show. Blind bias is a horrible filter for reasonable discussion.
