Star Trek Discovery inspired USS Challenger

The henzhou inspired the design.
What are your opinions?

Nice ship, really like the mood it sets. Do be a good sport though, and credit Bill for that shuttle design you used ;-)

So... I was looking for something to do, and I really like the shapes you got going here, so...

I had to address a few problems, though. The whole nacelle and pylon assembly had to be moved a few meters to the front because there ceased to be a hull to which to connect the pylon, due to the aft hull undercut present there. The observation windows, likewise, had to be moved up one deck because the shuttlebay doors are in the way.

Another problem that is arising is the location of the bridge. I can understand why you'd go for a different location if only for the sake of variance, but the planetary sensor array is a large MOFO that currently makes it impossible to put the bridge there. When deciding on what to do, though, I noticed that the bridge doesn't match up when comparing front to side view. Is it an oval instead of a perfect circle?

Hope you like what you're seeing, it's been fun making this ship!

I started this one months ago, but got caught up in other projects, suffice it to say, this looks better that what I have so far lol

I like what you did with @Norbert Dax's design, but if the idea is to emulate the Shenzhou from Discovery I think the bridge really should be on the underside of the saucer. No reason why the sensor pod usually put there can't be anywhere else on the ship. Otherwise, though, that's a very good 2D to 3D conversion. :techman:

I think @BorgMan captured the true feel of the original artist's design.. I can't stand the tan color for federation hulls, it reminds me too much of the cardassian and ferengi ships lol

may I send the original works to You?

This image opens up a gallery. I'm making good progress and I dare say I'm almost done. Tempted to do a bridge and shuttlebay...

As one can see, I've added some stuff that wasn't present in the original drawings, like RCS thrusters and aft phaser turrets. I thought it could use that...
