Mudd also knows a lot about Discovery's secrets. But therein lies the problem with using established later characters - you're tied into an outcome.

Yeah, well, that's Lwaxana for you. She's hardly typical of Betazoids. And she only messes with people she likes, such as Picard.

And once again, this is not the same thing as playing 19th century dance music at a party in 2017. Shakespeare is centuries old today and his works are still widely quoted and reproduced. It's likely they'll still be around centuries from now. But dance music is different. In another few centuries people may consider dancing to 4/4 time utterly obsolete.

I understand the out-of-universe reasons for the music choices (and I did love hearing the right reverend), however, I would just have liked a line of dialogue addressing the reason for playing ancient dance music at their party.

Well, Mozart composed plenty of dance music so considering his popularity in those times, I'd guess plenty of people danced to it.

I must be getting old...I am starting to think all music sounds better performed by a string quartet. Nirvana especially.

I think they basically put him in lifetime imprisonment with Stela and her dad. Her dad did say that now all debts Mudd has are owed to him.

They could have easily explained it away with more on the dad, but then it would have been too much side story that nobody would really care about :P.

The more I get to know them, the more and more I like the characters of Discovery. Honestly, with the exception of DS9 and TOS, I never really *liked* the majority of Star Trek characters. Not to say I disliked them, I just didn't care about them.

With Discovery though I've found myself liking the majority of the cast. It's a refreshing experience when it comes to Trek.
