Star Trek Crosses $350 Million Worldwide

Figured this deserved its own thread.

After the final weekend numbers, Star Trek's domestic box office has reached $231,882,965. Combined with the international numbers, Star Trek just cleared the $350 million mark on Sunday.

International Total: $118,519,512
Global Total: $350,402,477

I hope this will put at least a temporary end to the nasty comments from people who paint themselves blue and white and stand in below-zero temperatures for a football team. :rommie:

With any luck there'll be Rat Boy's caption threads from the trailers, and a funny spam thread like the Blue Warp Nacelles that'll mean I get to have fun with the new movie while avoiding all the serious discussion of spoilers!
Yes, I was in here a time or two. Thing is, all the forums have a little bleed.

Maybe, just maybe, it is happiness because such a success means more Trek to come? Nah...one couldn't feel superior to the masses if one thought like that.

Like I said, "FOR MANY"

And that's still arrogant and unpleasant.

There hasn't been anyone seeing money = quality in any of the box office threads I've read here.

Don't worry,

Some people can't see that revenue has many different implications - most of which i would be happy to be associated with, quality is one, fan base is another, newcomers, probability of sequal, $$$ spent on sequal (therefore better chance of success)...

So on and so forth.

Not all of them have to be true, but even if a few of them come out as honest it means great things for star trek.

Looks like 250 domestic looks very reachable now. :D

Hope this means they will give the sequel an even bigger budget, if possible, and make it even more kickass than the first.

A bigger budget = bigger chance of it not breaking even

$150 million is MORE than enough..

Abrams came in under that with ease, so it can be done. He said he got in the habit, working for the WB, when there was hardly any budget and no way to go over it.

I honestly cannot wait to see what he's got in store for us in this second installment.
What will ease the passing of time is we'll have the movie and a basic idea of what to expect. I, for one, will still be antsy. :D

^
Gosh, that's going to be a dilemma for me, I had to fight so hard to keep myself spoiler-free... yet on the flipside, I missed out on all the speculative fun. :(
Yeah, I stayed out of here and remained relatively spoiler free, except for some isolated ones a person could encounter just by breathing. When they open up the forum for the new movie, I will be avoiding that one, too.

With any luck there'll be Rat Boy's caption threads from the trailers, and a funny spam thread like the Blue Warp Nacelles that'll mean I get to have fun with the new movie while avoiding all the serious discussion of spoilers!
That was my strategy as well. It seemed to work for me. I was only exposed to the same spoilers the general public saw.
I must thank the MODS of TrekBBS for their hard work on SPOILER control. :techman:
