Star Trek Conquests - Wii

Has anyone ever played this? I use to own a copy but the copy was dodgy from the get go and eventually just gave up working. It was a really good game... you played either the federation, klingons, cardassians, dominion, romulans or breen and basically it played like the board game risk, with you taking control of the battles with up to six ships. Have to admit I favoured the Dominion or Klingons as they had easier layouts on the start, but the federation game was brilliant, you just had to know you could defend from enemy attacks.

awful, awful game...

I don't know how you could say that... sure it isnt on league with some other games out there like STO, but it was a nice little package that offered some strategic planning...its downfall was its limited capacity (luckily I got it in a sale at a kncok down price) and the lack of race abilities (e.g. romulans don't cloak, federation are war mad and the breen dont have super weapons).

Haven't played it, but have seen video's. One thing that would have been nice, they could have tried to do as good as/ improved upon the Star Trek RTS games (Armada, Armada II) that are already out there. Just from the brief look in the video it looks like they tried to go for a Star Wars: Empire at War feel with the different systems. So why not take something as good as (or improve on) the Armada games, and add multiple star systems? This is only my own opinion of course, and really probably isn't worth an ounce of salt, but from the video's it really just looks like they wanted to make a quick buck with a lazily indifferent amount of effort at best.

I have played it and didn't like it. It was simple and just plain boring. I didn't understand what it had to with Star Trek at all except for the name on the package and used Trek designs.

I played it and thought it was ok. But it is very simple. You can master it quickly. It's really too basic.

Star Trek Conquests? WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Star Trek Encounters (PS2) also made by Bethesda; even with the forgettable Shatner voice over and brief cut-scenes. I might say it had more enjoyable gameplay than Legacy.

Note: I never played the Wii edition, just the PS2 version.

Oh yeah Encounters and Shattered Universe are terrible games. I didn't get very far in Legacy either because it felt too superficial and pointless.

Some of the dialogue is absolutely dire in the game (although it unfortunately doesn't have the hilarious "Intrepid to Enterprise... Yaaarrrrggggghhhh!" from Legacy.) with gems such as the Dominion's oddly inaccurate call to arms "We'll show them why the Jem'Hadar are the most feared soldiers in the Dominion".

I agree. I hate the repetitive turn war cries, like "For the Confederacy!," "For the Founders!," "For Cardassia!," "This is for Earth!"

I actually kind of liked that; and I think they had some minor actors from the show do at least some of the voices.

Huh. I never noticed the voice actor work. The individual voices for the computer for each race did sound familiar (except for the Federation).
