Star Trek conquest

My brother got this game today for the ps2, has anyone else played it? I'd like to know what y'all think about it

I bought it today and dusted off my ps2, it's a "strategy light" sort of game It reminds me of "star control" for the sega genesis. Personally, I think it's pretty fun, though it wasn't the game I hoped it would be. I guess I was hoping for more options, and AT LEAST being able to link 2 systems together and play multiplayer or something. this game screams multiplayer. though I did get stomped by the computer on my first go, for 20 bucks, I can't ask for much though and this game is def. worth that to me, I'll prob. hang on to it cause it kinda has an old school sega game feel to it. is it me or would this game be pretty awesome on a nintendo ds though?

I love Star Control. I'll have to try out this game.

What I'd really like is a new Starflight game or a game similar to Starflight.

StarFlight was "da bomb" I remember getting that for Christmas my junior year in high school, I spent the remander of christmas break player the holy hell out of it, I loved talking smack to those little blob guys. everything about that game was awesome for it's time, the best console space/strategy/rpg out there in the early 90's.

Thank you. On different forums, I've mentioned that Conquest looked like Star Control 1 for the Genesis and people have replied that it seems more like Battlefront campaign because of how similiar the galaxy maps looked.

But all the descriptions (and finally getting the game) have confirmed that yes, it's more like Star Control, i.e. strategy lite.

And pretty much my assesement of the game runs with yours. I've only played two camapigns so far, and I've enjoyed the hell out of it. My only nit's are that I wish the ships in the opening and closing battle shots moved a little slower or with a radom camera angle each time. Also, I wish you had different camera angles on the battles.

Other than that, I really dig the ease of play, the stipped down experience, mainting the epic feel of the Trekverse and really hope they make a sequel for it, hell I'd even buy it for the PC if the graphics were of better quality.

Starflight and Star Control 2 were some of the most awesome games ever made. I'm firmly convinced that if someone would just remake those games with a fresh coat of today's CGI goodness, those games would seriously kick ass. Especially in todays seemingly growing demand for casual games.

Back in the day, these games were somewhat involving for games, but by todays standards, when games like Oblivian can take month after month to fully play, these games are fairly simple. And that's okay. There are certain older games where the game style of play and it's driving concepts are still viable if someone would only try.

If a major company tried to update them, they'd prolly change the format of the game to something more like Privateer, or something overly complicated. But I say a game with the same format, options, etc, with fancy shmancy graphics would work.
