Hello:
I attended the Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas last week and after the event.. I gave it some thoughts/feedback...and wanted to post this and ask for your thoughts:
I have attended many Creation Conventions in the past 2 decades but now I have kids and have some feedback related to bringing kids to the convention.
- I was shocked that Creation doesn't offer kids prices @ this show...just a flat fee for all tickets... every non Creation convention I have ever attended has a kids price; and having 2 kids below age 10-- and to expect to pay a full adult price seems very high.
- There were very few panels (if any) or kids related activities; other than the 1 photo booth and face paining/balloon guy, one short JPL related thing on Sat morning. At Star Wars conventions, they have *dedicated* rooms where kids and work on arts and crafts related to Star Wars.. How about something like that in the future ? at other cons, they have rooms where kids can try out/play video games.. how about a room where kids can play all sorts of Star Trek related video games ? ...4-5 TVs and 4-5 game consoles/PCs...other cons offer in-door laser tag...thoughts ?
- If these conventions are not going to be tailored to kids/offer kids content, pls convey it ..to set expectations//though it hurts franchise in long term imho
- It would be nice to at least recognize some of the wonderful Star Trek Fan Films/allow them to exhibit/promote their work in a way that CBS/Paramount can support..please help make it possible ? I know James Crawley had one panel; but it would have been nice to allow for Star Trek Continues to be there ? Their panel/exhibition @ Silicon Valley Comic Con was great...not every fan film conducts itself like Axnar..
anyone else who went to vegas show has comments/thoughts ? thanks
