Star Trek: Changeling

Just like Odo, 99 other infant changeling's were sent out into the Galaxy by the Founders.
Well this new series literally focus's on one of these Infants from the moment it is found by a group of Humanoids on a planet in the Delta Quadrant.
The series catalogues this changelings journey in search of his people. Each episode he journeys throughout the Galaxy searching for his people and each episode he comes across other worlds and ships and people and even other changelings of the 100 who he teams up with. At one point he joins a crew for a few episodes here and there.

Whadya think?

Great idea for a series. Interesting.

For years I've wondered why none of the other 99 infant changelings never showed up on V`Ger. And still wonder how they missed that story idea.

Your idea reminds me of my 1 & only story submission to SNW 9, which was rejected.

My story involved not 1 of the 100 Changelings-Sent-Out but a changeling who left the Great Link out of disgust & in protest of it's fellow changeling's plans to form The Dominion.

The rejected story dealt with this changeling's life roaming the Milky Way & meeting up with Odo & Commander Sisko.

My 3 cents.

Again, a great series idea.

PS: I had written, written about 75%, a V'Ger story intended for SNW 10 about Janeway & Co. meeting 1 of the 100.

I never finished it & it was never sent in.

This would be a more interesting series in the post-DS9 time period, in which everyone would know that the seemingly innocuous changeling is one of the Founders. That would certain complicate matters. And what if the changeling didn't want to return home?

This also assumes that the Dominion has not been neutered, and is still an aggressive empire but simply biding its time.

The changeling wouldn't find his people for several series as he journeys towards the Alpha Quadrant. When he reaches the Alpha Quadrant in this series it will coincide with the Dominion War time period. He comes across a space station where he has to give a blood screening but he doesn't know why, he then finds himself on the run and hunted as a founder and he doesn't even know why until he finds out about the Dominion. After the war is over he heads to the Gamma quadrant.

I've been uninterested in ST for so long that I completely forgot that 1 of my rejected Strange New Worlds X submissions was a TOS story about Captain Kirk & crew meeting 1 of Odo's fellow 99 infant changelings on a Class M world.

This story took place during Kirk's 5 year mission, not during the TOS Movie Era.

Forgetting that was serious dumb & not cool at all.

Seriously.

I'm in the process of returning to ST aficionadodom now & the timing is perfect, with Trek 11 coming out in 4 months.

Shame I never finished & submitted my V'Ger tale about Janeway meeting 1 of the other 99 changelings.

Oh well, that's how the cookie crumbled.

Well, mine anyway.

I'd love to see your stories fleshed out & submitted. Though, I'd like to see a "where are they now" story about the pursued/hunted shapeshifter(s) that Archer & the NX-01 encountered in the "Titan" era. Would they help the "lost sheep" Founder understand that being recruited into a genocidal campaign against Solids by The Great Link wouldn't help him/her/it in the long run.

Thank you hellsgate for your interest & support re:my rejected &/or unfinished ST:SNW story submissions & ideas.

If Pocket Books‘ ST Dept. resurrects the SNW Contest(s) then we'll all get more chances at getting our Trek stories possibly published.

The ENT Titan story about Archer & Co. encountering some of Odo's fellow “99ers” sounds very interesting.

Was that story in an ENT novel or anthology? I'd love to read it.

Thanks.

Star Trek: Enterprise, season one. "Rogue Planet". "Wraiths" are the chameleon-like, shapeshifters being hunted on Dakala as Archer & the crew of the NX-01 encounter Hunters pursuing a mysterious woman. The mysterious woman brings Archer up to speed on the Wraiths' ongoing, ritualized-persecution by the hunters. I'd like to see these "Wraith" characters on a Trek vessel in the Titan era, helping the 99'ers acclimate to being part of the larger warp-faring community.

Submit any stories for my amateur anthology to:

Thanks for the ENT info hellsgate & for those links as well.

ST could do a whole TV series, well at least a limited TV mini-series anyway, about the 99ers, &, non-99er Great Linkers not so stuck to the Founder's obsessive 1-D party line re: Solids.

Sans Odo & that “neutral” drip mudstick Laas, all the Great Linkers seem to be 0-personality joyless empty suitcases, the Femme-Odo in particular.
