Star Trek: Borg

φ of π

Captain
Captain
While digging through some old stuff in the attic I found my old Star Trek Borg "interactive movie" game.

If only my new laptop had a CD drive...

That was a real blast from the past. I'd post a pic but I don't know how to.

Agreed - great game for the time.

Although I think I would have chosen a different name for the ship than the USS Righteous. Not a very Starfleet-y name. Speaking of Borg-related games, I was always very disappointed we never got to see Star Trek: Borg Assimilator. It was one of the many titles under construction up until Activision went sideways. Looked like it could have been a great game. And, of course, Secret of Vulcan Fury.

I don't play video games, but I watched this one on YouTube, like a regular movie. The all-human crew annoyed me, but otherwise I really enjoyed it. Anastasia Targus is one of my favorite "Star Trek" characters now, so I really like to think that adventure "really" did happen in the "Star Trek" universe.

Methinks they maybe wanted to save the really good names for the show. (Still, with so many possibilities out there, there had to be something better than "Righteous.")

Meh, I've seen worse names than Righteous...in one of the novels there is a ship called USS Bill of Rights.

Now of course there's nothing wrong with the actual Bill of Rights, which is one of the greatest and most important documents ever written, but it just seems so...pretentious...to name a SHIP after it. The smug just oozes off the page...

As for the Borg game, I remember getting stuck on that one scene where you have to operate the turbolift with a control panel. I could NEVER get that damn thing to work right. I think I must have gotten ahold of a cheat code so I could finish it. Either that or I just started flailing at random until it finished.

I really wish they would put this and Klingon up on GOG.com. I know it's up on YouTube, but I'd really prefer to get the actual games rather than just watch them.

I used to have this program as well. It would have been cool to have more options as far as endings and such, but I understand why that would have been more expensive to do.

Considering Carey's love of hands-off government and rugged individualism, we should be grateful there wasn't a USS Articles of Confederation instead.
