Just got a used ps3, and have been testing out blu ray movies all night. I'm blown away by how newer ones like Quantum of solace, Iron Man, and Slumdog look...

My question to anyone that has viewed the old Trek movies on blu-ray is if 2, 3, and 4 look good? If so I will pick it up tommorow.

Thanks,

PG

I got it because I'm waiting till they do better transfers for the whole series. So I just considered it buying Khan and two bonus disks. 2 and 3 looks great though, 4 not so much. Although it was probably the film itself instead of the transfer.

Some reviews have mentioned the Blu-rays for the Trek movies have way too much DNR.

Also, the trilogy is only II through IV. Who would want just that?

I am willing to forgive them for including only the theatrical cut of TWOK, since that movie's added scenes really don't add much to the film.

TMP, however...I find *its* theatrical cut very hard to watch now that we have the Director's Cut, which I vastly prefer. So I can't see any reason for me to buy it on Blu-Ray.

Wait....TMP isn't the director's cut on blu-ray?

Nope.

For some inexplicable reason, TMP's new effects were only rendered at 480i resolution. :brickwall: To release the film on Blu-Ray, they'd have to re-render them at high definition. (Not *re-create* the effects, just re-render them. AFAIK, there is a difference.)

TMP not being the Director's Cut is why I didn't just get the whole set. Plus I want them to give the other movies the same treatment they gave Khan. There is a major difference between it and others in terms of picture quality.
