Here's a really weird and pointless nitpick:
I hate it when they put zippers down the backs of Star Trek costumes. Design the damned things so that either you can't see the closures or put them where a reasonable person would put them in real clothing.
(No, zippers down the backs of women's clothes have never looked good or practical, either).

I completely agree. The TNG costumes were the worst for it as it was incredibly obvious and awkwardThe 2009/ID zip placement seemed far more convenient on the main shirt and hidden fairly well on the undershirt.
That said - I do like that these ones only seem to be partially zipped, which makes it look a tad more logical.

Is there a practical real world costuming reason for it? I mean, a lot of women's dresses zip in the back, but that's for fashion, not practicality.
