Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

The new trailer looks really good. It looks like Yorktown base is going to be home of some cool gravity tricks, which is exactly what I've been hoping for in these movies. Many of the Enterprise angles we saw were stright from Tobias Richter's FedCon '09 video. Spock and Uhura kissed, which should end the rumours that their relationship has been dropped. Only part I thought was weak was Chris Pine's awful "Do it! Do it!" at the end.

This is what happens when I take a quick nap before an event. I set two alarms and sleep through both of them  :brickwall:

What a great trailer. The first teaser isn't even comparable. It feels like two different films, two completely different tones and it looks a HELL of a lot better now.

I'm pretty excited, cautiously optimistic, but excited nonetheless. I had a feeling they'd pull through and show us something good.

Now, the looong wait to July 22 begins

Now what does Krall's line about counting on Kirk being merciless mean? Is he setting a trap or does he want Kirk to prove his views on the Federation?

Hopefully prove Kirk's view on the Federation, ie, prove by his deeds and words that the Federation is right; instead of 'I have a bigger gun'.

Agreed, I hope a different take of those lines is used in the final film. That was the one and only thing in the trailer that had me a little "Meh." If I recall, he has the same lines in Trek '09 albeit with much more...urgency in his voice.

Yeah, he had that exact same line when he was telling Scotty to dump the cores in the first flick, and it came out with a lot more desperation. Though, context is everything in this instance.

Shouldn't we do a new thread about the new trailer? the new trailer was great a huge step up from the last trailer.

It's amazing the difference that a fixed camera will make. It doesn't feel so urgent or fast-paced anymore. There's some breathing room.

Why is Star Trek missing on the official poster?

Beyond just looks weird by itself.
Very likely not the final theatrical release poster. Doesn't have all the credits on the bottom. Besides, you can't have an "event movie" without at least a dozen posters nowadays. Ideally, this "coming soon" poster should have been out months ago, but perhaps Paramount just plum forgot to market the movie?!

Secondly, from looking at the Enterprise in a few shots, they may have done a couple of tweaks to her. At first I thought it was the angles and lensing, but it really seems that they may have made the nacelle pylons swoop back a bit, rather then being totally vertical like they are in ST and STID.

I'm wondering if that's some kind of warp speed visual distortion effect - or perhaps the upgraded 1701 has variable geometry Nacelle Pylons (which rotate slightly and sweep backwards)???

Lots to ponder over in this new trailer!!!
