Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

I usually don't get excited about uniforms, or clothing in general for any show or film, but seeing the textured tunics dropped has put a big smile on my face. :)

On the other hand, I'm rather disappointed (though I'm sure I'll get over it if the movie is as entertaining as previous recent efforts have been).

Serious question: How concerned should I be with the opinions of a site called 'Manly Movie?'

Dunno, but I'm not concerned at all.
I read it. The trailer review (seriously, we do that now?) was the same thing you hear about the films in general, with nothing new to add except more complaints about how Trek "used to be". My review of the "Manly Movie" review of the trailer is that the review of the trailer is tedium at its finest, and by finest, I mean most mediocre. It leads me to believe the full review of the film will be chock full of cliches and generic plot points.

* out of **** stars: Would not read.

My capsule review of your post reviewing that review of the trailer is that it was a pretty fine post.

*** out of **** stars: Leaves me feeling like I read the trailer review, without instilling any regrets that I didn't.

No more than for a site called girlymovie

Anyway, Spock looks preggo* in that still with Uhura. I'm resigned about the fact that Zoe Saldana is the only one looking decent and pretty with the new uniform. That shirt on Spock seems to be too stiff and too small for him, if he raises his arm I'll see his tummy

(*in reality, if the reports about the Dubai set are correct, the cast was wearing something below their clothes to help them breathe because that day was pretty hot there. So it's that thing that makes Spock look like he ate too much plomeek soup )

The red railing. It reminds me of old Enterprise's engine room.

I thought ID had an engine room set. It was just made up to look like a brewery.

Yeah STiD expanded it. They had a set for the warp core filmed at the National Ignition Facility, but they still had the brewery, and those tanks with the radiation symbols on them, and all that other good stuff. I really like the current engineering section, and really liked the core in STiD. Much better than the giant lava lamp from the TNG days.

I hope that's something like the Impulse Control Room, or a section of the ship we haven't seen before as opposed to redress of somewhere we've seen.

Could that set be the ship they find on the surface? What little I can see, kind of reminds me of an update TOS set.

It's in the middle of the attack on the Enterprise sequence in the trailer, so I don't think it's on the surface. But with the magic of editing it could be anywhere really. There's nothing really identifying it other than a goldshirt (Kirk if I'm not mistaken) getting thrown around. Kirk has his jacket on in most of the scenes on the ground that we've seen so far, but nothing says he can't take it off at some point when they get aboard the ship on the surface. It could be somewhere underground at Starbase Yorktown for all we know right now.

Yeah STiD expanded it. They had a set for the warp core filed at the National Ignition Facility, but they still had the brewery, and those tanks with the radiation symbols on them, and all that other good stuff.

But the NIF "engine room" was still a pre-existing location, same as the brewery. A location is not a set, i.e. an artificial environment created specifically for a theatrical or screen production.
