Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Now I know who you are. Welcome to Star Trek. ;)

Glad to be apart of the fandom :techman:

I, like you, am already a fan of Scotty. Closest thing to an Irishman we have on the show (apart from Riley lol), sad to say :(

Scotty is great. But DS9 has Miles O'Brien. He's from Ireland.
Technically, TNG had O'Brien and established his Irish background.

Also, 60s era television was not ready for an Irishman on a scifi show. Some things had to wait until the 80s, like Blazing Saddles predicted.

Oh, and welcome :)

OK who's going to be shooting a video of this :-)

Star Trek fans can look forward to an exclusive preview of the forthcoming Star Trek Beyond, which was partly shot in Dubai this year, at December’s Dubai International Film Festival. Details were still being confirmed at the time of writing, however our sources at the festival tell us that an exclusive ‘sizzle’ of the movie, which is set for a July 2016 release, will be screened over the course of the event, which runs from December 9-16.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is coming out in less than two weeks, and there's a good chance that our first Beyond teaser will be linked to it. It will gain good publicity for the movie, get fresh eyes on Trek from casual fans that Paramount so greatly desire, and since they're both being produced by J. J. Abrams and Bad Robot, it would only be logical to link the two big sci-fi franchises and use each other to their advantage.

Let's hope it comes to pass...

i'm still irked that we haven't details about Idris Elba's character name or what his motivation is or what Sofia Boutella's role is either. and the movie comes out in 7 months. at least 7 months ago we knew who the villain of The Force Awakens was

Wait for the movie. Why does it matter what his name is?

I definitely don't need to know everything this far out. I know the important details: it is a Star Trek movie and it releases on July 22, 2016.
Indeed. This is the most important information. I want to learn everything else as I watch the movie. Otherwise, what's the point?

Pegg was on Jonathon Ross the other night (uk) but aside confirming the title, the fact it will be set in space during the 5y mission, and that Elba was the villain there was no new info :(

Wait, what?! Idris Elba is in the new movie? GET. OUT!

There is no need for the filmmakers to reveal anything in particular in advance. We are owed nothing but the movie itself upon purchasing a ticket. Anything else they are willing to share is A) a bonus and B) entirely at their discretion. As far as I'm concerned, ALL movie productions should share sparingly.

^Yeah. It's gotten to the point where people seem to care more about the promotional campaign than about the movie itself. We've got promos for teasers for trailers for movies being treated as newsworthy events now. It's not like the movie won't be able to reach theaters if a step in the promotional process is delayed or skipped. The movie will still be there when the time comes.

I don't think we will have news about the Idris Elba character in the first trailer. They will hide him until just before the premiere. Maybe we see something about Sofia, probably Kirk, Spock and Co. and action scenes.

If Paramount want to hook casual audiences, they'll definitely show Idris, considering he's the main antagonist. Maybe not fully, or at all, in this upcoming teaser, but we'll definitely know what he looks like through marketing during the last couple months before release.

Ok. In any case, I want to see you discussing Frame by Frame.
